Gotta love how they give so much advanced noticed about these things. Guess i will miss this release!.. Loved going up there the last few times for both SC and BASC but a not enough time to plan!

you are complaining about 3+ weeks of notice for a beer release?

lmfao... try having less than a day notice for a release. 3 weeks is plenty!

I'm assuming that the normal release is a little less crazy than the BASC, is that correct? And does the normal SC make it to distro?

Yes to the 1st and yes to the 2nd question. There is some ditro to local shops. Runs off the shelf quickly though.

I noticed last year it was widely available on draft throughout the state (and even in South Carolina).

It's Jan, too cold to sit on a sidewalk, and I'm from Pa, I'd rather stay in bed.

The release is nothing to crazy to write home about... But the bottle share is where it is at! I'll be bringing some great stuff for Saturday morning. :grinning:

I guess I should have been more clear!! I wasn't so much complainning or bashing Foothills. I was expressing my depression in not being able to attend. I have MBCP day on Sat, Huna on M 15th. could not justify a trip to NC .

Can someone fill me in on how these things work? I've never been to a bottle release but I only live 2 hours from this one. How does the bottle share the night before work? And do I get tickets and guarantee that I get a bottle or just get in line Saturday and hope they don't run out? Thanks!

The bottle share is normally in the back room where the Bar is. Show up, share beer, eat some really good food and pass out!!!! Get in line in the Morning. For BASC the line is normally 300 deep by 6am. Dont remember the last SC release.

The SC is flowing when they open and another bottle share starts.

That sounds pretty awesome! Is their tickets or first come? Any word on a bottle limit?

The bottle share and the event sound really fun but I would not worry about bottle limits or them running out, its a run-of-the-mill chocolate stout, there's nothing special about it. Even if you don't get a bottle you'll still be there for the best part.

They also upped their production by a LOT this last year. For BASC, they upped the limit to 6/per from 4/per in previous years and still had bottles left at the pub to buy the next day. However, the line to get in for the Sat morning bottle share got very long, very quick for BASC. Some people who showed up by 6 AM didn't get in for the start of the share (doors open at 8, bottles sold at 10, share between 8 and 10 is awesome). I got in line around 4:30 and was still #312, if I remember correctly.

If you just want bottles and a draft, show up around noon and you'll be good for your bottle limit. It's hard to know what the line for the Sat morning share is going to be like this year. Regular SC is normally less crazy and the cold keeps some folks away, but this is also their 10th anniversary and they've said they'll have "special kegs" on tap.

Line "officially" starts at 2 AM, although people started lining up around midnight for BASC. Getting in line is first come-first serve, on honor (the cops did kick one line cutter to the back this year) and Foothills starts handing out wrist bands around 7 am. First ~350 are pretty much guaranteed to get in at 8, but that's their buildings fire capacity, so they can't let more than that in at one time.

Bottle share Friday night isn't as "whalez-ey" as the morning share but is still a lot of fun and great if you don't feel like getting up at an ungodly hour to sit in the cold. Just bring a bottle or two and head to the back of the pub.

Last year, I showed up Saturday for lunch and picked up several bottles of Sexual Chocolate. Also still able to sample the cask'd version on vanilla beans. Having (2) young boys keeps me from camping out in the cold or early SAT AM bottle shares but there is still plenty of SC to go 'round.

To be clear, if you show up at noon on the 31st, there will still be bottles of barrel aged Sexual Chocolate for purchase at the brewery? Or is it just the non-BA version that will still be around that late?
