New to the bay area, and am pretty overwhelmed by all of the SF beer week events that are happening...

So I thought I would get a thread started to hear about peoples favorite events from previous years, any cool info you have on existing events or where you all plan on being for this coming week of merriment, Cheers!

Last year, I didn't do too many formal events.

Just happened to be at Cellarmaker that week where they had Quadruple Dobis on tap, which was pretty insane.

Also went to the 28th Annual Celebrator Party that final Saturday, which had about 25 - 30 mostly California breweries pouring taps including Russian River's Pliny the Elder, Sierra Nevada Barrel Aged Narwhal, and Trumer themselves having 4 different variants of their pilsner.

Finally, I also recommend checking out any Kick the Kegs events, where generally bars have accumulated so much stuff from beer week, that they're generally pouring them for 50% off at the end of it all.

This year, though, I'm doing more targeted stuff since I know what breweries I really enjoy.

I'm flying in for the weekend primarily for the opening gala, which is one of the best beer festivals I've ever been to. Great location, good crowd, reasonable size and incredible beers. I don't know how many of the beers there are easily and readily available around SF, but since I don't live there any more, most of the beers at the gala are new or rare treats for me.

Rare Barrel has the best events for the week and I don't think it's close.

Ill be going for the final four days. My strategy is usually to spend as much time as possible at Cellarmaker and to hit just a couple of events. Then usually try to wind up at some of the bars and breweries after an event and hope there are some leftovers to be had without lines. I figure the bay area always has amazing beer around. You can blindly stumble around the area during SF beer week and be sure to run into an abundance of amazing beer.

How busy will Feb 12th be at cellermaker and Rare Barrel? I saw RB had an event that day. We will be getting into town via airport right around 11am. Going up to santa rosa after a few visits though.

I'll be at Younger on Saturday like every year, Rare Barrel does some cool things for SF beer week as well. Way to much happening around this time of year you have to pick a few and roll with those. Trying to do it all will drive you nuts and brake the bank hahaha cheers and Welcome to the Bay

Beer Week is such a shit show that I haven't attended any events the past couple of years other than going to Cellarmaker. I just can't bring myself to stand outside City Beer Store or most other spots for hours when I can walk right in every other week of the year.

I was thinking about going to some of the City Beer Store events. These lines you mentioned, are they just at peak hours, or from the very opening?

I'm guessing that means it will be the same for Liquid Gold...

Maybe not so much for LG, but the past few years at CBS has been pretty bad from the very opening.

It's just not fun for me to have to wait in line then not have any room to drink your damn beer and that's if someone hasn't already bumped into you and spilled half of it.

I'd love to go to Save the Whalez. Can't imagine it working out, though. Even if my taxes come before then, I probably wouldn't be able to make it on time.

Google says, if I left work right at 4 and ran straight to the bus stop, I could make it there at 5:52, but Google is usually off a bit. I'll have to look into it more...

Super pumped to hit the event at the jug shop on sat 2/11. The link isn't working so I cut and paste the info. It's sold out but seems pretty impressive and only 100 tickets sold. Hope it's worth my $80. I plan on being rolled outta there. Bottles being sold too.

"Please join us on Saturday, February 11, for our biannual "It Came From The Wood" barrel aged beer tasting. We will be welcoming back Eric to help us kick off SF Beer week 2017 as we showcase over 100 barrel aged beers from around the world. Expect representations from Cantillon, Drie Fontienen, Tilquin, Goose Island, Cascade, Logsdon, Grimm, Prairie, 50/50, Lost Abbey, and so many more!

We are closing down the store early for extra room and limiting the event to only 100 people this year. This event sells out every beer week so make sure to get your tickets now and guarantee your spot to this incredible tasting. We will have cheese and snacks available during the tasting and one or two food trucks in the parking lot for you to soak up the booze. Most of the beers tasted will be for sale and receive a discounted price for one night only.
