I'm going to be in San Francisco on Thursday, heading up to Napa for work on Friday. I won't have a car. I was hoping to hit a bottle shop to pick up some goodies to bring back to SC. I'm staying in North Beach that night.

Or, if any is interested in an IP trade please PM me. I can bring Westbrook and Coast beers among others. Alas, I'm coming about 2 weeks early to be able to bring Mexican Cake.

City Beer from Civic Center Station. Whole Foods SOMA from Powell Station. Healthy Spirits from 16th/Mission. Whole Foods Noe Valley from 24th/Mission. IMO City Beer and WF Noe are your best options.

City Beer is great. Cask at Rincon Center near Embarcadero station has some interesting beers. Healthy Spirits on 15th has a great selection and is easily accessible by MUNI.

If you are staying in North Beach you can get to Ales Unlimited pretty easily by taking the 45 down Union to Fillmore, 22 to Jackson (it's only a couple blocks up Fillmore but very steep).

This thread is helpful. I'm visiting for work in a few weeks and without a car, so it look like the Bart/walking. Defiantly want to hit Mikkeller Bar and Cellarmaker.

On a side note, is there a good place to get a 12 bottle shipper or packing materials near City Beer or the Courtyard Marriott on 2nd street?

There are Fedex and UPS locations in the area there. Worth calling to see if they have shippers, too. I think they normally do 'round these parts because I know some advertise wine shipping, but not sure about those ones.
