Before the site switchover there was news that Phil was either leaving Southampton to work at a larger contract brewer in the area or was going to do both, can't remember. Someone posted a note on the LIMBE (long island malt & beer enthusiasts) email list the other day that Phil and Spencer were recently let go. does anyone know if there is any truth behind this and what the deal is? is this the end of epic brews coming out of the publick house?

Would love more info if anyone has it, I was under the impression that Phil would still be overseeing the brews and spencer always seemed like the ring leader of that place to me. I hope this is all rumor.

I hope so too, because that would be terrible news for lovers of beer

What I have heard and what was implied on the list is that people were suddenly let go.

Was/is Markowski more of a figurehead at SH or did he initiate the special releases and creativity there? Was he a
Jeff O'Neil type? Curious what capacity he will be serving at Two Roads.

I ran into Phil at NEBCO a few weeks back; he confirmed that he will be the head brewer at Two Roads, and that he is no longer at Southampton. I believe that Two Roads will be taking over the contracting of Southampton brands, though, and he will be overseeing them.

He also mentioned that while contracting will make up the bulk of business for Two Roads' 100BBL brewhouse, they will be launching their own line of beers - including a barrel program.
