To be honest every trade I've done here has been a great experience, every trade partner has been first rate.

2-2 so far with trades I've actually done. Most are very professional around here. The only problem I have is with people not taking the time to respond to inquiries about their FT posts. Happens way too often and it's very rude.

I have no good beer trading experiences. As a matter of fact, the one and only trade I've done was bad. I sent beer , the other party never sent the beer they said they were going to send. It was not someone from BA.

One of my first trades turned out amazingly. I never mentioned I was a rookie but he must have sniffed it out. It was in person so I was unsure on extras. When I got there, dude explains that he'd just been the recipient of a BIF and figured he'd share the love. He hooked it up with an extra sixer of some nice stuff like Zombie Dust and stuff from Cigar City. I was a bit embarrassed that I didn't bring extras to an IP trade. But luckily enough, I'd just got back from Parabola hunting and insisted that he take one. His generosity let me know what a great trader was.

To be fair if an inbox explodes there's no way the guy can fairly respond to every request. The way the site is set up its extremely an time consuming task. It's not anyone being purposefully rude here, at least IMO. If he's got 30 requests he's swamped.

This seems like the common counterpoint but how often does that really happen though?
I mean, I guess that can be an issue occasionally with the right set of variables, but are traders really getting 30 messages regarding a single trade regularly - that really surprises me.
Or maybe I'm doing it wrong. :stuck_out_tongue:

its not THAT time intensive. Write a generic - 'thanks for replying I think I have already closed this'. cut and paste however many times you need. The person who you don't piss off may appreciate the courtesy, stay in touch and end up saving you hours searching for a beer you want.
Think its not their fault that you posted a trade that many people want, be nice and try to reply to everyone however briefly.
Oh and I am not perfect, I hope I have always replied but if I ever didn't reply to anyone so sorry!!

Agreed. You post the FT knowing that a lot of people may respond so at least have the courtesy to leave some type of answer.

I really dont trade much anymore , but my last two FT I was swamped bet I got at least 30 plus. I got requests after I closed it down. I feel bad not responding to everyone but it would have been ridiculously time consuming. I apologize to anyone I missed though. Cut and paste is beyond me, I keep claiming computer ignorance , but unfortunately I'm not exaggerating.

Best trades I've had are with people I've traded with multiple times. It gets to the point where you are trying to outdo each other on the extras. Hella fun.

I saw a guy post some bottles as a FT and I had some bottles he was ISO. I messaged him, he messaged back, we swapped addresses and shipped the bottles to each other. Best trade ever.

Best trade experience was with @tgates about a year ago and one of my first few trades. I had FT Pliny and was ISO of any Surly as had never tried. Tom reached out I wanted to go $4$ and he advised he was willing to go more than on his side as Pliny was more scarce (scarcity is interesting idea because at the time I had more Pliny than I could ever drink my parents had dropped off 4 cases). Not only was he generous on the Surly with a great mixture and well over my cost of Pliny, but he threw in some great extras that were new to me. I stepped up my future trades because of him and try and treat others as he treated me. The great thing is I still trade with Tom on a regular basis.

I would also like to point out that I have a few other great trades and have made some new beer friends from trading. Like @FriedSlug and @Justdoit1234. Trading is not always about the beer you have and the beer you get.
