Several times per week - that's why I have a 26 ounce snifter.

I pretty much never share my bombers because (1) I'm perfectly capable of finishing them on my own, (2) I don't have any friends whatsoever to drink with even if I wanted to, and (3) if I did have friends in this shitty little town, it'd be highly unlikely that they would even be familiar with the wonderful world of beer beyond BMC.

I've enjoyed many a pleasant night with the likes of such beers as Arctic Devil, Monk's Mistress, La Terrible, Stone IRS, RuinTen, Hog Heaven, and many others that only come in bombers. It's always a fantastic drinking experience, and has never once made me feel like I "over-indulged."

I hear you and agree with where you're coming from. There are ways of discovering whether your friends are ready to make this "jump" other than risking a beer that was both difficult and expensive for you to acquire. For all of my buddies that I enjoy drinking with, I have only identified 1 that enjoys these beers the way I do. I'm working on my brother, I think he might be the second. Thank you for your service.

Tell that to the title fight of my 135 lbs against a bomber of BCBS

I just don't see it. Are you telling me you are unable to consume two 12 oz bottles in one sitting? Because if you do that, guess what, you just consumed more oz than there are in those big bad bombers. High ABV or not, still not a lot of beer IMO. If I decide to have beer, regardless of what I drink, I hardly ever just one-and-done it.

I downed a Dark Lord a couple months ago and it was a little hard to do because of the sweetness.

I'm stingy by nature so I usually drink the nicer stuff on my own, especially since I don't have many beer-loving friends. It's tough going through a bomber of a high gravity beer by myself though. I tend to prefer singles when possible. Also: no stigma in drinking by yourself if it's good beer. amirite?

Nobody helps me trade, buy or find the beers I acquire so when it comes time to crack one, I do not hesitate to do so. But it's always nice to share with friends!

I drink large format beers by myself all the time. No different than when I drink a bottle of wine by myself. Over a 3 hour period, it's not that bad.

I do share with my only other friend who is into beer, but those occasions don't happen all that often since we are 40+ and don't "hang out drinking" at each other's houses all that much. When we drink, we go out to beer places.

To me it depends on the ABV BCBS at 15% I wouldn't drink a whole bomber of that at least not in one night. Many beer drinkers specifically when drinking the really high ABV beers could learn something about how fast to drink and serving size from wine drinkers. A 6oz glass of wine is considered 1 drink because it has higher ABV than most beer. 12oz is a normal drink for beer but when people say that their talking about something like Bud at 5% or whatever it is, no I'm not saying you should go out and drink bud, just that 12 oz of BCBS is more than 1 drink.

lots of us don't drink more than 2 on any given night. especially if we're talking a 13% bomber or something.

there's just not a need for it

Yes, if they're 13% ABV. After a full meal, I can sip a single 12 oz bottle of Bourbon County Stout over the course of an hour and a half. By the time I'm done, I'm half drunk and entirely ready for bed. Guess what - I know what 2x12 equals

I drank a bottle of BCBS Rare by myself when it was less than 2 weeks old. It took 3 seperate pours with food and water breaks inbetween each pour, this happened over the course of 6 hours. Needless to say... it was an epic night!

I'll crack open a nice and expensive beer on random nights quite regularly. If it's something good that's not available around here I tend to hold those for bottleshares simply because otherwise I won't have anything appropriate to bring. But if I have two I won't wait for a "special occasion" to drink the other.

I like to bring the good stuff to social gatherings but if there isn't one coming up I'll just crack open whatever's in my fridge.

I talked to a guy recently who said he regularly drinks a whole bottle of Black Tuesday by himself and then will switch to scotch after its emptied. Id probably pass out halfway through the bottle haha
