Along with my post about South Bend, I just found out that I have family visiting in Sheboygan that's willing to grab me some beer. Anywhere they should go and what local/regional stuff is available? Thanks
Not that I'm adding anything to this thread but is there a better town name then sheboygan? In my head, Norm Macdonald is telling 10 different jokes where the punchline is sheboygan.
Pretty much anywhere has New Glarus. Grab all of it, but right now new is Wild Sour Ale and Berliner Weiss.
This is a decent place in Sheboygan: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/11691/view=beerfly Try to stick to newer released beers, as they tend to have a lot of old inventory lying around (think cases and cases of Hopslam lying around in July last year).
Jakes has more available, even some limited stuff because the prices are jacked (think $10/ea for Devil Dancer ect). Woodlake Market is a decent store as well. Hops Haven is more of a bar now but used to be a legit brew pub. Recently a new brewery called Three Sheeps started brewing there; their Really Cool Waterslides IPA is pretty solid. Best beer bar is 8th St. ale House.
There's old Indian folklore, probably fauxlore, about how the town got it's name. Something about an Indian priestess wishing for a baby girl but only having boys. After the 6th boy the statement was made "She's a Boy Again."
I usually go to Festival Foods when I'm visiting the in-law's place in nearby Howards Grove. Nothing much (if at all) in the way of bombers but they have a large selection of shelf beer. I'm a big fan of the 8th Street Ale Haus for grabbing a beer or two. I've been to Woodlake Market and they did have more in the way of limited/specialty beer.
