I've tried many before but anyone have any suggestions as to what beers I should try to prioritise when drinking in Sheffield next weekend?
Be curious to see where the balance of opinion lies.

What you should drink next weekend? See what your puritanism has driven you to? Your organs are positively engorged by hop lust.

Oh, and Steel City beers if you haven't tried them.

Its been about about 5 years since I've been to Sheffield last so I'm positive I've haven't tried Steel City yet. Thanks for the tip. Really promising.

Good and timely point about the ol 'puritanism (though I'm really more Covenanter) sending my body into hop convulsions. This morning I was up the town and finally had my first gander inside the new Wotherspoons. The sight of the eight loaded handpumps just about turned my organs inside out. But I managed to make my excuses and left .
Funnily, when I meet my wife a few minutes later in next she was noticably worried about my complexion.

The best plan is no plan. General outlook is pale and hoppy. The exceptions are exceptional.

There will be so much great beer, it'll be like shooting salmon in a barrel. Kick back, relax and enjoy.

Remind me when you arrive. I'll probably try to get to go see Sheffield FC on the Saturday - Thornbridge pub next to the ground - but elsewise it won't be the first time I've got stuck in Sheff. My record at the Tap is eight hours. But that ended up with Mongozo coconut. So less said, the better...

Arrive on Friday probably hitting The Fat Cat, Kelham Island, the Gardeners Rest and the Wellington by the end of the evening.
Saturday kicks off 10/11amish at the Sheffield Tap with a variety of other pubs prioritised.
I tend to take pub runs as a bit of a military campaign with planned objectives but the guys I'm with generally prefer the chaos and melee of it all. Probably means we'll start out with best intentions though I'm the sort of person who tends to drop a grenade in a barrell only to get self indulgently trapped and lose all sense of space and time.

Jeebus. I get the impression that joining you guys will be similar to F1 when you're a lap down on the competition

Really? my Ancestors were Covenanters, there is a memorial in Wigtown with one of them named on it, another was sent, as a slave, to Jamaica.

All being well, I should be at the Tap for 11ish; if the weather holds I'll be off to see the mighty Sheffield FC. The fact that there's a Thornbridge pub next door to the ground is entirely coincidental.

Bear in mind that the Owls are also at home on Saturday and there may be a few more punters than usual in the Valley of Beer, particularly if venturing Shalesmoor - Hillsborough.

I have some Covenanter blood in me too. They've been greatly misrepresented in history. And in the debate between nature and nuture I'd say its breed in the bone.

Sounds good. We'll be hovering in the vacinity around the same time. And actually, I'm not a big believer in the whole coincidental thing.
