Any pro tips on shipping a corked and caged bottle? I'm sending one out today and I'm a little worried about the effects of the blazing hot weather we a experiencing. If it can withstand one day of high temps it should be ok as it's heading towards much cooler weather. Can I do anything to secure the top of the bottle better?
I use splicing tape, its is a little more expensive but it seals to itself and is water tight. Good Luck, also put the bottle in a zip loc or garbage bag just incase
I've never had a problem shipping C&C bottles (including the notoriously lively Upland lambics a year ago) just as I would any other bottle. I suppose you can tape the C&C assembly if you want, but it's not totally necessary. Just check and make sure the cage is fastened tight and you should be fine. Nothing to fear!
The rubberized splicing tape is the best. It's really easy to use and take off so the person you are shipping to will be happy.
I love me some 6, 9 and 12 bottle styro shippers. You can't go wrong with those and they are re-useable!
I did this when shipping a Cascade Blueberry a few weeks ago. When it got there, the cork wasn't where it was supposed to be.
you can tape the cage if you want, just an added security measure. Like said above, make sure the cage is on very tight and you should good to go.
Thanks everyone. I've shipped them before without a problem, but I wasn't sure how well they hold up under higher temps. It sounds like I can ship them like I have in the past and they'll be fine.
