I may try to ship a growler. What precautions need to be take? What is the success/fail rate? How to pack it? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Tape the top with electrical tape; whether it is a screw cap or flip top. I put mine in ziploc bags, then put that inside a foam container packed with newspaper. Then put that foam container in a larger box, surrounded by more newspaper/packing peanuts.

I do almost the exact same thing and I haven't had a problem yet.

Same. Shipped many growlers, not a single leak or break yet.

I was sweating shipping a Bruery growler a month ago, but I just used shipping tape and wrapped from the top of the cap around to the bottom 3 or 4 times to try and ensure the cap didn't pop. Then I had this leftover sheet of foam insulation board, which I cut squares out of the size of the box I was using and hollowed out each square the diameter of the widest part of the growler, then stacked the squares on top of each other. This was basically like making a crude bottle shipper, but much wider, and in slices of styro.

It may have been overkill, but it helped me feel better about it.

If you can, get 32oz, 1L, or 750ml growlers for shipping. Tape the caps well as already mentioned. The best way is to use styrofoam bottle shippers for these smaller growlers. Wrap at least one trash bag around the bottle shipper, I usually do 2.
