I would also recommend requesting a signature for these big bottle trades, it's a couple of dollars but reduces your chance of a lost package especially if the recipient lives in an apartment or isn't home.

If I were shipping an irreplaceable bottle, I'd put it in single bottle styro shipper and then pack that in another box per usual. Highly unlikely that is breaking.

@jason3125 either the spouse seriously lacks common sense or she grabbed an opportunity to take a passive aggressive swipe at his beer trading hobby. Un-fucking-believable.

@Vikings1201 signature required is a great idea when shipping something irreplaceable to someone you don't know well enough for a ton of mutual trust.

Another trader previously posted that he requires rare bottles to be picked up at the recipient's local FedEx facility. He won't make the trade unless that's agreed to. In that situation t the shipper gets both signature & witnesses.

Given all the nonsense we've seen it would be naive to think there aren't people who would manipulate situations to make bogus claims about losses, damages etc.

In fact there was a bad trader thread someone started claiming he never received anything despite FedEx tracking which showed his package as delivered. (The tracking # was posted elsewhere.) He never responded to questions & was eventually banned, I think. BA mods/admins have a great track record with zero tolerance for that kind of bs.

I have received a replacement bottle in tact and very well packaged. The BA handled the situation very well. We are both satisfied. Cheers!

@jason3125 that's great. He didn't sound like a problem trader.

In the future he'll probably do his own packing. But people don't need to be beer aficionados/traders to understand the basics when shipping liquids & breakables. The packing you described is beyond belief.

That's pretty funny what you said about his wife. That's actually possible. But why wouldn't he wait till he personally packaged it. Oh well.

In regards to the signature, I think It would help if people provide their business address. ( I know not all employments allow it) I use my business address, it's less expensive and there's no chance to be stolen from neighbors when I'm not home. With all the packages I get from beer mail, I'D hate have to go to the FedEx store.

We are running a risky business sometimes things go wrong
