If we agree to ship today and the other guy says i'll send you a tracking number in the morning (but he didn't), what is the proper etiquette? Should I still drop off the box today as agreed? I sent him a tracking number but am weary about dropping off since he hasn't delivered his tracking number yet.

There needs to be a certain amount of good faith, people can't have their guns drawn at all times. The day is not over yet, did he agree to ship today? If so, I would ship like I promised to and assume he will ship. What does his feedback look like?

Good. And after thinking about further, I decided to drop off.

Yeah, a day delay is nothing in my book. Things come up in life and stuff gets delayed a bit. No need to panic.

Definitely agree with this. In regards to the OP's concern, maybe the trader thought he could drop it off before work but couldn't so now he's dropping off after. No big deal at all in my book. You definitely need to be a little flexible and have a little faith/trust. When I agree to a shipping date I'll usually say something along the lines of: "I should be able to get it out Monday, but definitely no later than Tuesday" or something similar. Now I believe that I have never not shipped on that first day but I phrase it this way just because life can definitely get in the way on some days and I may not be able to drop it off until the next day. This phrase also automatically keeps my partner in the loop a bit if they don't hear from me that first day because something came up. They know not to worry about it until the next day at minimum because I have said "no later than."

I make it a point to ship the day of/day after I lock up a trade. On occasion a busy work day has kept me from being able to ship on one of those days, but I've never missed a shipping window by more than a day. I wouldn't hesitate to expedite shipping if a package wasn't going to reach a destination on time.

I wouldn't worry about getting a tracking number instantly. I tend to rely on good faith a lot, but more so a solid treading history.
