Hey guys, I need to know the best way to get a package from Valrico, FL to Chicago by this Saturday. With the holiday in the way, I'm not sure it'd make it in time if it just gets sent out Monday. I'm looking to do it as cheaply as possible. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

FedEx it TODAY. It should get there Saturday. They won't ship Tuesday so it'll end up somewhere Tuesday during the day. But that's a risk you gotta take if you need it there by Saturday.

Shipping Wednesday will probably get it there Saturday too.

My trading partner said he tried to make a label today, but the estimated date of arrival was Jan. 2nd. That's for both FedEx and UPS.

Central California to Chicago is a 4 day business trip, so i can see it taking the same amount of time for your box. . Even with them shutting down terminals for Christmas, the trucks are still moving. Theoretically, it should get there by Saturday.

FedEx express (2 day) but it will probably cost a ton. And I think they X-ray the boxes that fly.

I just checked my FedEx and it said 3 business days if I ship today arriving by Saturday when I estimated. That said, best bet is to day 3 day express. It's gonna cost alot though.

Besides the ugly timing of the holidays on a Tuesday, you gotta figure they take some serious time off in the week between Christmas-New Year's after all the overtime in the last couple of weeks...

One idea is to play around with home vs business/ground delivery on Fedex. Home doesn't run on Monday, and with Tuesday the holiday, a box sent out via home now effectively goes out on Wed. Whereas with ground, it should start moving on Monday.

This may also be the rare case where you should strongly consider a USPS priority flat rate box.

We decided to second day it. It was only an extra $17.

Any extra precautions? Pressure loss on the plane or extra security like someone else mentioned?

I have received a box shipped FedEx 2nd day without any problems. It was packed in a cardboard shipper.
