Any tips on shipping swing top growlers? I've shipped regular screw cap growlers. I usually just give them a good twist then electrical tap from the neck up. But with swing tops they have the whole metal wiring in the way. Any suggestions would help. Cheers!
I've shipped them without any problems. Just wrap the tape all the way around all the wire things really tight and a little way down the neck of the bottle, then it can't open.
I have done this many times (swing top) and I actually think they are better for shipping than screw (I just think the seal is tighter). I have found that a 4 bottle styrofoam works really well. You basically cut out the middle and the growler will fit perfectly in it. But you can really just use anything as long as its secure. Russian River puts some electrical tape around the top so it doesn't pop open, so I do the same with other brewery growlers. Hope that helps. Cheers.
I tape it, then zip tie it, then vacuum seal it with a food saver, then wrap it in bubble wrap and put it I'm a smaller box within the shipping box. I've shipped 15-20, never had a leak or breakage.
Similar line of questioning...the fresh filled growlers should stay cold. For folks who have sent them before, do you do something to keep them cold, or just send them in a box?
For the strip going over the actual top, I'll use packing tape. The thought being that electrical tape has that stretch/give whereas the shipping/packing tape doesn't. I still wrap the neck with electrical tape.
