So I've done over 100 trades on here and the most I ever spent for a box was ~$28 for a big ol box going from Portland to Maine. I recently set up a trade with someone in Canada and was told "shipping is reasonable". Well, my 18 pound box ended up costing me $69.15! This was the cheapest price I could get through USPS. Maybe my deinition of reasonable is different than others, but this is not reasonable. Just a little FYI for those thinking of trading international. Cheers.
I was looking at USPS rates. If you can fit it in one of their boxes, it's less than 30 bucks. If you use a box with a dimension larger than 12'', you're screwed. Edit: I was incorrect. 12 x 12 x 5-ish box with a limit of 20 lbs is ~40: http://ircalc.usps.com/MailServices.aspx?country=10054&m=13&p=0&o=1&mt=11
Why'd you go USPS? I shipped a 6-bottle styro with Fedex to Canada for about $30. It would have cost roughly $15-$20 for the same distance domestically. We did a US/Canada BIF last year and costs were similar across the board.
You should try shipping to "Canada" instead of "Canada!!!!". Those extra exclamation points really add up. I've shipped to Canada once, I went FedEx and don't recall it being particularly expensive.
It is expensive. Canada to US is an average of $35-$40 using Canada Post/USPS. But you'll get amazing canucks brews in return!
Does the wink mean you're lying? Or does it indicate that no amazing brews are actually available in canada?
Shipping to the USA is not cheap either... If you can do over 100 trades and afford that, then you can afford to ship internationally every now and then. And something must have been off there. Looks like (s)he charged you the overseas price. Jeff
