Have a trade set-up with a good Canadian friend of mine up in Ontario. Have seen some recent threads that shipping to/from Canada has gotten more perilous as of late; http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/canada-has-my-beer.127935/ http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/shipping-to-canada.125171/ http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/box-seized-by-the-customs-help.121787/ Advice seems to be keep declared value low, list contents as collectible glasses/salad dressing/Wedding gift/etc., ship via Canada post when shipping to US, Ship FedEx when shipping to Canada, and finally don't ship to Ontario (obviously not an option). If anyone has further advice/experiences please share. Either way we are going to give it shot, nothing terribly rare in the boxes so if they don't make it it's not the end of the world.
So I have luckily not had too many issues shipping numerous times using both Canada Post and Fedex (into the US). I would make sure that you are extra careful when packing things up, make sure that when things are shaken you cannot here anything like liquid, and yes keep the declared value down but reasonable (and reflective of the total bottle count). Also I would tend to declare something like ceramics or glasswear so that if customs do open things up there is a slight chance that they still let things go as you are being honest instead of lying (like with salad dressing). This actually happened to me once on the way out and Fedex thought the box was confiscated but customs actually just delayed it and send it back - not sure why but not going to complain.
If you are to ship from the US to Canada, use USPS. My trading partner sent me a box a month ago via fedex and it's still siting at the custom as of right now...But I kinka agree with CerealKillerKP, it's not safe anymore...
