I have done it many times. 1. Australia Post permits alcohol shipping, however US Post Service Does not. 2. Mark your beer as "Collectable Glassware" that way you should avoid customs scrutiny. 3. Always use registered post so that you can track you box.
I sent a box last week with very specific gourmet vinegar and Truffle olive oil names (just googled them) and Vegemite, went through no probs - don't price too high though! Airmail. Then you can track with USPS
20kgs is the max weight limit. The box size limit is 140cm on two of the sides x 2. I.e. girth cannot be more than 140cm around. If the box is big, you may get charged on the cubed weight, not the actual. Whatever is greater.
