The best beer that Shipyard makes is Peak Organic. Oh, wait, they don't even make that anymore... nevermind.

I seek out Prelude for a beer or two every Xmas. Yeah it's a tad buttery but I expect it.

Also Old Thumper is OK once in a while. Otherwise Shipyard's lineup is horrid.

Monkey fist is one of the worst beers I have ever had. The name is entirely appropriate.

I will say I do enjoy their Smashed Blueberry quite a bit.

I had it at the Maine Brewers Fest and thought it was one of their best beers. Good hop aroma and flavor while dark in color it had light roast.

I gotta agree with the tasting/tour deal, They show you a 5-10 minute video in a stupid room, take you to try some of their stuff, then encourage you to shop. I will say they do a decent job at English styles. And Blue Fin stout is one of the most flavorful stouts I've had with that low of ABV.

I'm keeping my eye open for this around my area though, I'll try anything they put out, because I dont get my hopes up.

Dont want to have to apologize for liking a Shipyard beer but I have to here. This was better than I expected. Very nice hop bite more than I thought it would be. Its like an ipa with some dark and roasty characteristics. 7/10 for me.

I know I sound like a broken record, but Ringwood yeast is the problem. This damn fast acting yeast leaves an offensive"tang" on my palate. Magic Hat uses the same shit and look at most of their beers.

There are certain combinations that the other ingredients tend to mask that off flavor, but usually it's pretty obvious. This one was a bit better than most of theirs.

I buy this when I go to applebees, because the alternatives aren't any better...really about as good as shipyard is going to get. btw, I thought that mint stout was fairly terrible, it was like you let a weakly mixed hot cocoa cool down, put toothpaste in it, then lightly carbonated it. Fail. I would love to have this idea put into motion by someone who's awesome at stouts however (founders).

I've had more than my fair share of Shipyard living in Maine. As YouBrew said the Ringwood yeast is very over-powering in most Shipyard beers. It tastes like it was brewed with pennies. I love Black IPA's and this was nothing amazing. But the logo is sweet

Just tried this. Decent stuff. Not transcendent but a fun IPA/porter hybrid.

I didn't like this one, but I think the bottle I had might've been sitting around a bit. Shipyard makes a few beers that I'd classify as decent (bluefin, prelude, old thumper) but their best offerings are pretty unremarkable. I'd guess Prelude is their best beer, at least in my opinion.
