There's also this whole thing: http://www.pressherald.com/news/Shipyard-ordered-to-repay-300K-in-sewer-fees.html?pagenum=full
Although the arbitrator ruled that there was no intentional wrongdoing by the company, you have to question how this went unnoticed for 16 years. Part of it is the city's fault, but you have to realize that Shipyard profited enormously (approx. $1.5m) from not having that pipe metered and correctly billed. The settlement is a mere fraction of what they actually owed in fees. Personally, I find it pretty negligent and I question Pugsley and Forsley's motives. Shouldn't Pugsley have known that a metered pipe was required by law since he's a "master brewer" and has been involved with so many breweries in Maine and the States?

They make shitty beers because most people like shitty beers. Shitty beers = $$$$.

Poor Alan Pugsley. I wonder if he ever reads these forums? His feelings would be hurt.

That was likely from Anderson Valley, not Shipyard

I do like Smashed Pumpkin in the Pugsley series though. Didn't know everything else was so bad

Maybe we should tell them that they should change their name to Shi(the letter t)yard.

There's no doubt in my mind they are a shady brewery and are in it for the $$$ not the beer.

    Nope, it was Prelude.

    http://beerpulse.com/2012/12/shipyard-bourbon-barrel-aged-prelude-special-ale-now-available/

The thing is, since Anderson Valley bought all of the Wild Turkey Barrel rights, Shipyard couldnt use it to sell the product, so its written nowhere on the bottle, but it for sure, Wild Turkey.

I think you are supposed to dip the rim of the glass in cinnamon and sugar - you know, like you do with all great beers!!

From what I've heard, Melonhead has been flying off of shelves. They do have their audience, I suppose. They can have it all too. Zero care ever from me.

I think Shipyard gets a bad rap on here a lot. They've been around for awhile and I think they aren't total shit. I personally like Monkey Fist and XXXX IPA is excellent.

Goodness. A friend of mine loves everything Shipyard. I've tried a few -- Applehead, Pumpkinhead, and, of course, recently Melonhead.

Definitely the worst beers I've ever tried. Couldn't finish any of the three. Melonhead is basically the lowest of the low from them.

I liked Double Thumper quite a bit, and I used to drink a bunch of Old Thumper at Federal Jack's in Kennebunkport, where the brewery got its start.

Working in a liquor store makes me hate shipyard even more. Especially in the fall when everybody raves about how great pumpkinhead is while actual good pumpkin beers collect dust
