I've had a couple beers from Short Fuse and they've been hit or miss. However Dark Realm with Bananas was killer.

I've been there twice. Once for the beer and once for dinner with my wife and two little kids (toddler and infant) . We got there around 445 on a Saturday and ordered immediately. After an hour or so we still hadn't gotten out appetizer.

At the end of the day we kept being told our meal would be ready in ten minutes. At some point we just told them it would just be easier to go home. Didn't ask for a refund or anything. Again.. Assured us we'd have food in no time over and over. I think we got our food around 730. There was live music so it kept our kids occupied. The manager came to our table and was really nice and offered to mail us tickets to their fest but we never received them.

If it wasn't for being with an infant stoll boy in solids I probabay wouldn't have cared. We stayed hours later because of their false assurances. Been done with them since then.

It was soon after they had that announcement in rate beer, so it got pretty busy but they definitely didn't seem ready for it.

Hopefully they go away. I'm all for capitalism, but I'd rather money spent on these guys go to places like More, Mikerphone, Phase 3, Hop Butcher or name any other breweries that have started in the past 1-3 years. None of them are perfect and I have come on here to complain about something for them; but they are all in it for much better reasons than this company and are ultimately breweries I believe in and hope do well.

I've had a few of their beers because my friend was really talking them up for a while. They were ok. They seem to really be into the milkshake IPA thing, I've seen a bunch of different flavors (strawberry, apricot, watermelon, vanilla, etc.). My Whole Foods stopped stocking Pipeworks and carries these guys now.

I get Short Fuse and Alarmist confused 100% of the time.

I kept doing the same exact thing until I moved to Portage Park and finally tried out Short Fuse.

My experience: went on a Sunday with my brother while the wives went outlet mall shopping. Stayed long enough to try all 3 of their flights (yes, they have 3 different flight sets). They are one of those breweries that focus on quantity over quality. There were a few I would drink again, but for the most part everything was very average, some were quite poor. The food was also very mediocre.

The reason I see this place continuing is because of its location. It's right by the fashion outlet mall, Rosemont Theatre, tons of hotels, etc. So many reviews I see are from people in town on business, and its convenient for that. But the quality is exactly what you'd expect for a place near the airport/hotels, catering to business travelers.

I haven't been to Alarmist yet (or even tried many of their beers), but I guarantee I won't confuse the two. I now know exactly what Short Fuse is.
