I'm from Chicago and I'll be in Atlanta from next Monday-Wednesday.

Any suggestions on local favorites, bottle shops to stop by, or an awesome tapping going on in the middle of the week?

    Thanks in advance!

I have driven by this bottle shop a couple of times on the way to the OG Chick-fil-A but never stopped in. Looks pretty good: Beer Girl, Growlers & Bottleshop

EDIT: It's also pretty close to the airport, which is nice.

If you are close to Marta it opens up possibilities. Max Lagers brewpub is close to the Peachtree Center stop. You can travel East from 5 Points station to Inman Park and walk 7 or 8 minutes to the Wrecking Bar Brewpub. The Porter Beer Bar is about another 5 mins walk. Or ride a bit further to Decatur to the Brickstore Pub and Twains.
Uber will take you to all of these too. Greens, Ale Yeah and Hop City for beer stores.

If you can't venture too far away from the airport, The Pig & The Pint in College Park is one of the best options nearby for decent beer and good food. You won't find any rarities on tap, but they keep a rotating selection of 10 local drafts on at all times, heavy toward the smaller breweries you won't see outside GA. As mentioned by others, if you can hop on Marta and head downtown or to Decatur, that opens up a world of possibilities.

Uber or Lyft rides (in conjunction with MARTA as needed) are cheap here. I've taken them for as little as $5

Definitely think about what has been suggested with taking MARTA and then Uber/Lyft from there where you want to go.

Pro tip: MARTA from airport to Five Points station; switch to the west line and get off at Inman Park-Reynoldstown. Uber/Lyft to either Porter Beer Bar or Wrecking Bar. When done at one, walk to the other (very short walking distance). You are hitting two of the best spots in town - one a phenom brewpub, one a world class beer bar. Roundtrip this should cost you ~$15 ($5 MARTA, $10 Uber/Lyft)

He'd want to go east instead of west to get to Inman park, just a heads up so he doesn't go the wrong direction.

I second this, but it taps at 4pm when they open, not 7.

Wrecking Bar is only a half mile from the station. Pretty easy walk for someone from chicago. From the Porter you can take the #6 bus back to the station (but buses aren't nearly as frequent as they are in chicago). Download the free MARTA app and it will tell you exactly where the buses are. If the bus isn't coming for another 30 minutes or so, you can walk 15 minutes back to the station or use uber.

For bottle shops, Greens will have the best prices. Ale Yeah and Hop City will have better customer service, and will also sell singles (Hop City will split any 4/6 pack if you ask). There's two Hop City locations. The Westside one is next door to a good brewpub called 5 Seasons. The Krog Street one also has an adjacent bar in the food hall, and is much closer to Little Five Points and Decatur. Check bottle dates wherever you go.

If you're here for work and only have evenings free, I'd do one night at Wrecking Bar/Porter and one night in Decatur (Brick Store/Twains) and use Uber one night to go to a bottle shop.

And the Decatur places are right next to the station.

I hit the ATL airport area twice a year for the last 8 years. If your hotel is on the north side of Hartsfield I'd go to the Pig and the Pint or Manchester Arms. I don't think selection is earth shattering at either place but they're local and the food at the Manchester is always very good (try the pork chop, it's 3 inches thick and melts on your mouth). Plus Manchester is packed with locals most nights. Not the touristy schmucks trying to get loaded on Bud lime-a-rita and Yeager bombs.

How about bars with full liquor and a good craft selection? I'll be staying st the Sheraton about a mile from Centennial Park in a few weeks...would like to find a spot to have a few drinks (my company doesnt drink beer but drinks liquor so I need a place we will both like). Also any bottle shops in the area?

We might be a good option for your work at 5 Seasons Brewery & Restaurant, 1000 Marietta Street. We have 2 full liquor bars (upstairs sky bar gives an awesome view of the city). We brew all our own drafts and have barrel aged bottles for on site consumption. We have acoustic music on the downstairs patio on Thurs and Fri nights. We host work parties daily. Right next door is Hop City, a great bottle shop, also has 60 taps for growler fills.
