Heading from Ontario through Michigan to Indiana and wanted to know what places were well known and good spots to pick up Bell's and Shorts beers.

I will probably be making a stop at Bell's and Founders but just in case, and I will not be making the trek North to Shorts.

    Any help would be great!

Siciliano's is my favorite store in GR but I feel like Shorts beers move pretty quickly there. Martha's usually has a ton of Shorts but they are a bit pricey.
I work in Holland and there are many stores that have MANY Shorts beers. I could probably pick some up for you if you'd like...

In Kalamazoo, Drake's, Tiffany's, and of course the Bell's general store.

From Ontario, are you coming across through Detroit, or you going across in Port Huron?

If you are coming through Detroit, shoot up I-96 to Livonia. There is a store called Wine Palace at the Middlebelt exit that carries a ton of Short's. They get more Short's beer than anyone else around here. Even though it is older, they still have some Cup A Joe and some Bloody Beer left, and probably some other seasonals like Publican Porter and others. If you don't mine a 2 month old DIPA, they may still even have some Liberator.

I'll be crossing at Port Huron. Anything there worth stopping at so I can have something cold for the hotel?

I went to Siciliano's on Saturday after all the locals in the KBS line raved about the place, was less than impressed. Nothing I haven't seen or been able to get from stores in the Metro Detroit area. Plus, do they not carry DFH products?.

Stop by Holiday in Royal Oak, Merchant's in Dearborn or Super Liquor IV in Ann Arbor (It's one block to the south of the State Street exit off I-94). The others are off 94, but not by very much.

They would gladly carry DFH products as would any store on this side of the state if they could get any. Go in any store in Kalamazoo and you will see zero DFH as well. We have been in a drought for a little over a year despite bitching from our reps.

You can pretty much stop at any nice grocery store in Grand Rapids and find Bell's and Short's beers. If you go a bit out of your way, Pauly's in Lowell usually has a pretty great selection, and is rarely mentioned.

You'll have to trust the other BA's on here for that one, man. I don't know the Port Huron area.

You should be aware of border restrictions as well on alcohol. You can bring 1 case/24 bottles per person without declaring (and paying duties on) INTO canada. However, you can only bring 1 bottle of anything (beer, wine, hard alcohol) into the US without declaring (and paying duties on). The downside of cutting through Canada. Please correct me if I am wrong, this is the impression I got on my last trip to Montreal.

Yeah, for some stupid fucking reason we can't get DFH in Kalamazoo.

From what ive gathered is the going rate for a bottle is $10.

Sorry for the thread jack but any Western Michigan people who are looking for DFH I found a few of them at PM Expeditions just outside of Ludington.
