Hello Short's Fans! It's been pretty sweltering this past week, so a brand new surprise ale would really hit the... Oh, hey. Look at that.

So, if you're within distance of the pub, or in the shipping area, grab yourself a six pack. It's available online right now.

Times right now are weird and stressful. God knows, with working from home I can't wait for school to start (I'm fortunate enough that our kids' school and us parents are working to take precautions). You might disagree with how local politicians are handling things.

Don't take it out on the staff. It's not their fault.

I don't think anyone here needs to hear this; you guys know. But I'm posting it because if you happen to be at the pub anytime soon, make sure you give the staff some extra words of kindness, and, if possible, some extra cash as tips. Sounds like they're having a time of it right now. So give them some extra encouragement.

Unfortunately, northern MI is full of exactly the kind of people they're talking to/about here. I have a family friend with two restaurants and he's decided to pay for full time security, just to stop this kind of nonsense.

People are surprisingly complicit with signs and directions throughout the place when they see a uniform right inside the door. Sad we have to have bouncers in family Italian places but here we are.

Obligatory: Short's is great. It and North Peak are mandatory stops when I'm in greater TC

It’s truly a shame when adults act like entitled children.

    Good for Shorts.

Some of their customers are, unfortunately, dicks.

Northern Michigan is unfortunately home to many uneducated, backwoods, morons. It's a shame to read a message like this. Their staff deserves much better.

Is it now safe to assume that there will not be bottles of spruce pilsner this year?

It was in the Hoppy Holiday sampler pack last year. I'm holding on to hope!

Not just northern, I can assure you.
For that matter, not just Michigan. Every village has its idiot.

Absolutely. It’s surprising to me people apparently have such a negative opinion of the people surrounding me, or me for that matter I guess. I think it’s pretty obvious at this point that there are some not too educated people dispersed relatively evenly across the country.

Ironically I have observed the overwhelming majority of people behaving badly in my neck of the north woods are not locals, rather entitled/wealthy people vacationing up here from about everywhere.

Regardless, a lot of places have been putting out messages like this lately and it’s pathetically sad.

I'm not going to get into some useless internet fight here, but I feel you're to an extent incorrect.

Northern Michigan, Antrim County to be exact, was once my primary residence. And yes, it's a beautiful place with wonderful people. No doubt about it.

Currently, though, I reside in Northern Vermont- and the scene here is different. Now, not EVERYONE is down with what is going on, but even in the rural, blue collar areas, which accounts for a vast majority of the state, folks have been cordial and respectful. I haven't heard of anything like this going on. Especially something like a direct social media post addressing it.

Maybe we don't get as many entitled/wealthy people, I don't know- but we get quite a few from Boston, NYC, and Connecticut that visit or own vacation homes.

Not looking for an argument, everybody has a right to their opinion and you base yours on what you see and have seen, I won't argue with that. I merely was trying to point out that Northern Michigan doesn't have all the "uneducated, backwoods, morons" - they are not exclusive to any one area or region. Or for that matter, absent from any area or region. Even Northern Vermont.

    I never said all. "Many".

My apologies for those offended. I love Michigan.

Looks like the Anni won't happen at all this year:

Two bits of good news! I was contacted today by Short's and chose to switch my tickets to the Anni Party next year. So any you BAs going, I'll see you then.

Next bit of good news is a new PRIVATE STACHE.

Available at S-Mart, the Pull Barn, or for delivery if you're in the area.

Are you dudes ready for some non-heinous news? Some strange things are afoot at Short's, the triumphant return of Most Excellent Stellar!

So be excellent to each other, and it's okay to be a Ziggy Piggy when picking up this brew. Can you guess how many I'll pick up?

That was a great pack! Still much prefer Stellar Ale to Most Excellent Stellar.

    And New Style was incredible!

Out of the 358 Short's Brews that I've rated, New Style is my 2nd highest rated.
