No, you are definitely not alone. I definitely miss the experimental beers. They are definitely more IPA/pale ale focused.

Ok, I've added the suggestions, which worked out perfect. We can get four conferences with 35 brews a piece.
Maybe the highest BA score in each conference gets a bye?

Also, now that we have an idea of what beers to include it'll be easier to break them into conferences.

Haha, thanks! I'm working from home, with three 12 and under we're now trying to homeschool, and a honey-do-list that keeps getting longer. I need a distraction like this to keep sane!

Ok here they are, 140 brews divided into four divisions. After playing around and moving brews from here to there, these are the four that made the most sense (and fit everything) :
    IPA/PALE
    EURO/MALTY
    DARK/TOASTY/ROASTY
    SOUR/SPICY/FRUITY

Because it's Short's, there's a bit of crossover between categories, so I tried to find a spot that made the most sense for each one. They're sorted by BA rating, highest to lowest.

I think there were a few clinkers from Short's, but overall everything I've ever had from them has been enjoyable. (I kept a list up to around 3 years ago, so I know which ones I've had that go way back.) I can recognize the names of many of these beers, but not much about how well I enjoyed each one. I didn't keep any rating records as part of my list, I don't think I rated a single one of them here on BA to provide some documentation, so I'm going to have to do a lot of thinking about which ones to vote for. It's likely if beers are paired against each other that I'll have to skip some voting. But we'll see what happens.

Thanks for organizing all of this, @Tripel_Threat .

Fun fact about Uncle Steve's.... it was almost renamed last summer at the pull barn to "Yes we have a stout".

THIS is the kind of trivia I live for.

I'm going to work on making brackets this weekend. Highest BA score gets a first round bye, then takes on the lowest-ranked winner of the first round. After that we jump into the second round. Actual BA scores won't be disclosed during the voting to avoid rating bias. Tournament announcement will be Monday in a new thread. We can wait a few days to begin voting so BAs have a few days to a week to see the announcement before the tourney starts.

We're going to dip back into our memories (or wish lists!) and vote on what brew we want brought back. Will Short's be listening? Who knows? They have been responsive to feedback in the past....

Frankly, I'm voting for Peaches and Raisin Apollo because to my eternal Short's-loving shame I've never had either one and wish I had.

I really think at minimum, Peaches ends up in the final four.

It will all depend on the match ups! If Peaches draws a tough match up early on, it could be MSU vs. Middle Tennessee all over again.

Ultimately, it does come down to match ups. I do not know of to many Shorts beers that have the same following.

Thanks to the kind folks at Short's for delivery to the Metro Detroit area today! This BBA Moher Stout is a great compliment to movie night.

I've got to wait until Monday, I was hoping to break into one of the variety packs this weekend. Oh well.

I miss them too, but unfortunately in today's craft beer world it is hard to sell experimentals at the rate they were releasing them. I feel like variety packs were the perfect place for them, but they are a hard sell in grocery stores against the big companies.

Better late than never haha. I'm not a week day drinker so I probably wont get to the variety pack until next week anyways. I'm just happy to get some private staches that I normally wouldn't get because I'm only up their late summer and after new years.

    Hey all,
I'm working on the brackets and hit a snag. The BA forums aren't set up to allow multiple polls in a thread, and there's no way I'm clogging the Great Lakes forum with individual match ups.

I've been playing around with Google Forms since it's free and easy. I created a simple poll with two questions to see if it works. If you click th link below you should see two poll questions. I want to test
    1) you can access the poll
    2) I can see the responses.

You shouldn't have to register or leave an email or anything. Hopefully this works.
