I thought it was a clusterfuck early. All the lines were long, which made it hard to maneuver anywhere around the beer lines.. When it all settled down after a couple hours it was great. Tough to avoid those early long lines. It was smart to sell token with the bottle sales earlier. Probably made the token line more bearable. There were never long lines for the porta potties for me, which is very important for a event like this. The food truck lines were long almost the time. My wife waited around 40 minutes for a pulled pork sandwich at around 6:45. I liked the water stations. The first band was awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed them. All in all, I thought it was a great party. Everyone seemed very relaxed, which made it better early when it was tough to maneuver.

The first 100 people in the presale line got what they called "willy wonka fast passes", that got us in immediately at 3 avoiding the long line. That allowed us to get a spot in the pub, and then a group of really awesome guys from Warren sat with us and beer muled for me the entire night. I never had to get up except to piss. That convenience was probably my downfall though. I wish I got a pic with our server because he looked exactly like Freddie Mercury.

Smore's stout ran out in like 30-45 minutes which kinda bummed me out.

Loved the event. Kudos to Joe Short and his entire crew, including all of the volunteers. I enjoyed the bands as well, though it made conversation difficult at times. The beer list was amazing, and I'm always happy to be able to bring some bottles home. Like most others have said, the bourbon aged beers were all outstanding, but I was a big fan of the Golden Eagle and Thimbleberry Crush as well. I wished it was a bit warmer, but that's a risk of a party in April in northern MI. All in all, I have zero real complaints though. It's great to see Joe still be moved emotionally by his business and his customers.

I also like to mention how thankful I am that this is the same day as DLD. It seriously helped with the crowd size, and even then there were still more than 4k people there.

We had guest passes which ruled! We got beer and tokens rather quickly. The best part was being let in and not having to wait in line. I never experienced a long wait in the beer lines. I'm extremely grateful to the folks at shorts for taking care of us. That's why we do so much business with them. Great beer and even better product. I can't wait to go back up.

After reading about DLD, I'm not sure I'll ever make that journey. I too, loved thimbleberry crush & golden eagle

I definitely do not remember the shuttle ride back. Disappointing I got no stachebender to take home even though we waited 3 hours.

Our shuttle ride back was me, my wife, and another couple. Lol. I tipped the shit out of the shuttle drivers.

the only issue i had was very minor considering i did eventually get in and had an awesome time. the issue was with the presale line. i showed up at noon not expecting 300+ people(my mistake) to be in line already. we were told while we were in line that we would be receiving a green pass when we got up there to buy the beer and tokens. this was great because i wanted to drive back to Shanty at that point and take the shuttle back to the party. when we got up there we were told they werent handing out anymore passes and that we would have to wait in line again when we got back. i was irritated at the time considering the 2.5 wait in line i had just done. i got back to the party at 4 and had to wait in line again for almost another hour since the party was at capacity. mildly irritating at the time but i really enjoyed getting to know the people around us in line and when we got in all of my cares went away. especially since everything was ran so smoothly inside. whenever i wanted beer or food it went smoothly and i never had to wait to use the restroom. luckily it was cold enough that people were leaving and we were able to get in around 5. all in all just an awesome day and Shorts is still #1 for me. love that place, the people, and the beer of course.

like i said the only real issue was being told we would be getting a pass and then we didnt get one so people that got there hours after us got to get right in while we had to wait in line for people to leave. it turned out not to be a big deal because we got in and had an awesome time but i think if it would have been better weather then we would have been waiting out there for much longer. i really dont think Shorts expected that kind of line that early but i would have waited in the entry line rather than the presale line if i wasnt told id be getting a green pass. luckily my good friends saved me some carrot cake to try when i got in. im already looking forward to next year.

I was working the beer pre-sale line. To be honest, I feel we should have done a few things differently to help make the line move faster/more logistically sound -- it was something we've never dealt with before, so naturally it was a bit crazy. Those fast passes should have never gotten offered out OR we should have kept them going until the end of the presale time. Also, if we simply said cash only and you had to buy at least a case, things would have gone much quicker. I apologize for any inconvenience. Glad the rest of your day went well.

yeah its really not a big deal and i understand why it happened. everybody working and volunteering was great and to be honest i really enjoyed my time in line. the only time i was actually irritated is when i thought i might not get in.

BIG thanks to @psykosis for the Stache Bender. Awesome of him to do a swap with me on his way back to Indiana, it was very appreciated. The Bender was amazing BTW, everyone at my brother's bachelor party loved it!
    Cheers Brother!

It's funny, you read this thread and it is mainly positive with people hooking other people up or being good people in general. Reading the DL threads is the opposite, mainly with drunk asshats and thievery. That is why I am so glad the Short's bash is the same weekend as DLD.
