it'll be my third all grain BIAB batch in the past month. (my first three batches with biab) I brewed a brown ale and a pale ale. i am drinking the brown ale now and it tastes more like a porter and is 7.5% abv (it's good, but doesnt taste like a ABA). I am currently torn between brewing a stout or an IPA. I've been drinking IPAs all summer but I have a feeling that the first cold day i'll be switching to stouts mixed in with a few dipas. what do yall think?

Depends on how seasonal of a drinker you are. If you brew a beer now it will be around the first of November until its ready, just keep that in mind. Myself, i can drink an IPA all year round but it sounds like you need some variety.

I am trying to brew a batch every two weeks. Hopefully it will be enough. I'm leaning towards the stout now because if i brew an IPA the batch will be gone in a week haha

I personally really enjoy making stouts. Not that there is a beer out there that I don't enjoy making really, but stouts are kind of my first love. That's the first beer I made where I was like, "wow, this is so damned good!" and never looked back. That would be my vote sir. Good luck. And um... drink one for me.

Stouts are much easier than IPAs, but why not brew a Black IPA/Cascadian Dark Ale/Hoppy American Stout/Dark Ale? The trick, IMHO, is to smooth the roastiness of the malt so as not to disrupt the hoppiness...or not. : )

I lean to stout because I love a good stout. And seasonal brews. If you brew a decent one and wait till Dec, I think you will appreciate it.

I always keep stouts in the rotation year round. If you get on a pale or IPA kick, the stouts will keep well and even improve over time. I keep an "aging rack" in my cellar mostly for 8% abv or higher brews which are not pale or IPA. Nice to go down in the cellar and have many choices of aged beers on hand

In my experience stouts seem to take some time to mellow out a bit. Where an IPA you want to drink right away. How about brew an Stout now, then brew an IPA. While the Stout is hanging out you can be drinking all the IPA.

I'm a very confused man, on one hand I love dry stouts like Guinness but I also love stuff like dogfish head 90 min IPA

Can't go wrong with either a stout or an IPA. I second @GreenKrusty101 and suggest a black IPA.

I'm not a huge fan of the style tbh. I did drink a Dr. Hoptagon by Parish Brewery last week and loved it. It is dry hopped with galaxy i believe. i'll buy a few and see. I had one by a local brewery last year called rougarou. also pretty good but not something id hunt
