Should I start dry hopping?

    Measure the gravity of distilled water, at the temperature it was designed to be used at (probably printed on the paper slip inside). It should read 1.000.

    Just going by what you said about possible lower than expected og. Not being thoroughly mixed

    All you need to do is vigorously mix the combined wort/water to ensure thorough mixing (use something like a sanitized big spoon).

    If you did not thoroughly mix the wort and top off water you will not obtain an accurate OG reading.

    I hope I'm connecting the quotes correctly here. Anyway, adequate aeration is different from adequate mixing for gravity reading purposes. You can do the latter without dissolving much O2 at all in the wort.

    Thanks for all the input guys, I'm going try to stay patient and let it do its thing. I'll take another reading when I do my second dry hop addition
