Should we re-enable replying to trade posts?

Just curious if someone posts you are way off on your trade value are you supposed to amend what you are asking for? I for one would stand behind my offer even if I low balled myself as a grown up I knew what I was doing when I posted my trade offer. I had something and I wanted something in exchange.

Example I once offered 4 Pliny for 4 Heady and someone posted I was selling myself short. Someone sent me a DM accepting the offer, I did not turn around and say per the trade forum you owe me more. I accepted the trade. I was happy for me Pliny is something I drink regularly and Heady was the biggest whale on the planet based on what I knew about beer at that time.

My vote is the DM system is all the communication you need.

 

You're not 'supposed to' but some people did. I responded to a trade offer years ago & the guy messaged me back something to the effect of "Whoa, must have undervalued this beer, got 6 offers in ten minutes. I'm going to pull the post & try for something bigger."

Considering BA is now dead in the eyes of many traders due to this change, yes.. try to bring back BA to its former glory. But it may be too late, most people have moved on.

Yes, absolutely. I stopped trading as actively on the site not long after the comments were disabled. 9 out of 10 trades are now one sided garbage that clutter the forum. I remember them not being that way when there was the option to give constructive criticism.

 

These are my favorite kind of trades! I get as much satisfaction from trying a new beer I've never even heard of as I do some hyped beer. I really wish more people were in to these types of trades.

 

Funny thing is there's stuff on the shelf that's every bit as good or better than hard to get beers. Whale status sometimes is just as much a function on availability as it is greatness.

 

I would say I'm for Opening it back up. Basically because it creates that much more opportunity for open communication throughout the community.

If you can enable comments while limiting thread shitting, I'd say go for it. That said, that's a tall order to fulfill.

 

i don't think you need to turn the replies back on - but giving a lens to the market for BAs would be nice. e.g. some sort of functionality that informed traders what offers have been consummated and what is still open (or pending). green light, yellow light, red light type thing.

no replies in your inbox is a good indication that your original offer was well off the mark.
