Should we re-enable replying to trade posts?

To echo some prior thoughts, I think the creation of a $4$ specific trading section would remedy a lot of the concerns of unwanted opinions/criticisms. Replies could make sense in that forum as dollar values are relatively known or easy to find - there's no subjective interpretation of relative value.

Replies on non $4$ trades could then be enabled or disabled by the OP. OP can choose to disclaim that "criticisms or suggestion on actual beer value must be kept to PM only" to avoid a thread derailing into opinion battles. This coupled with a separate forum to discuss beer trade value, I think, would resolve a lot of the concerns.

If you find someone annoying or trolling then allowing comments on the trade forums could help you on your DNT lists, on the other hand I also think it may help weed out the sissy's on this site

 

Yes, bring it back. It could help some of the new traders. If everyone could check their feelings at the door we could even have some fun dialog.

I dont think it does, when commenting was allowed a recent comment would not bump it up.

 

I'm generally all for free speech and less moderation, but this has already been a problem once for the site, which is why it was taken away. I honestly haven't heard any great reasons for it to come back - most everything mentioned can be done via PM...which is not difficult. I've juggled multiple trades with high dollar bottles at once via PM - it can be a task for sure, but I just can't see things being any better with replies to my ISO:FT thread. If it is brought back, I think it would definitely need a bit more moderation at first and also have the potential to just be shut back down again within a few months.

I see a lot of folks saying it should be brought back because of the entertainment value - that's a bit of a reason to NOT bring it back IMO. I'm guessing those aren't really adding value.

My big thing with trade values and assessing them is that everyone here needs to utilize the Completed Trades section of the forum more often to post what trades have actually closed.

bring it back with mod ability to lock threads or ban repeated abusers, we are a pretty good self policing community!

 

I would like replying! It's helpful in figuring out what things are currently trading for, and what you'll need to imitate to land the same. Or, you could do what r/beertrade has, with a weekly Trade Value post.

 

Bring it back. Not only for making trades but for some entertainment value. I'll read trade boards for hours.

Please bring it back, it makes it easy for quick questions like is this closed as most people dont close threads it seems. I think by now people should know when to comment and keep it on topic and just not trolling a thread.

 

Sure why not. You can always PM the person anyway. It might add some entertainment value as well!
