I thought we were told about the workings of Spec's already?

I've been told by spec's employees that they get some of their beer from the specs warehouse and that they are at the mercy of said warehouse. Who knows maybe they don't know what they are talking about or maybe for some reason they didn't feel like telling me why they couldn't get a certain beer.

FYI: Central Market in SA got at least 2 cases of BBXXIV over three weeks ago and had it lined up in the cooler for the taking...

And yes, I believe you should politely and tactfully correct uneducated/uninformed employees!

I know that it does depend on the county and distribution areas. But I have also heard that Spec's has a distributor license as well as the retail permit. Not sure of the accuracy of that.

from my experience working in bottle shops, sometimes reps and distributors spread misinformation to employees, which if that is the case, i would have wanted to know the truth from a customer so i could know which reps not to believe. i've had a rep flat out lie to me about the availability of bourbon county last year. i was told "it is in MA right now but will not be coming to the Boston market for another 2-3 weeks." 2-3 DAYS later it was on the shelf at a store literally down the street.

can't believed I missed that one. Oh well, I got some through alternative means. I wonder if that's all SA is gonna get.

I correct store employees if they make egregious errors. Keep in mind that you don't have to be a beer geek to work the beer aisle. I assume most on here are very familiar with different styles, breweries, etc, but a lot of other people are not. I had one guy recently tell me that SA Divine was the same beer every time but only once a year. Clearly he didn't know.

The worst is the constant spread of misinformation that seems to get spread quicker than any real news. Half the time they are just repeating what they've heard and believe to be truth.

Isnt that the truth? I always try to start with "I heard...." when talking about releases, but then, that's how it all starts! At least the person I am talking to should know it is speculation. lol
