Shouldn't Enjoy By be pulled from shelves after the corresponding date? I seen a lot of 4/20 on the shelf a my local grocery store. i was looking for the newest enjoy by. maybe its not out yet? I ended up with a six pack of Luponic Distortion just a few weeks old which is a fantastic brew.
Yes, it should be. You can report on Stone's website. Not sure if we are allowed to post links, but it's pretty easy to find. They are pretty responsive, and I personally love their approach to ensuring fresh beer on the shelves.
There is no particular freshness date on onion and armpit sweat or ball cheese flavored beers. Yeah, I'm mildly drunk
I've seen quite a few shops with bottles still on shelves. I'd still drink it even if it were May 20th, and I'm fairly certain it would still be fine.
I mean, it's bottled like five weeks before the Enjoy By date. It's not's really "old" beer. That being said, I don't know when it should be considered too old and pulled from shelves. I did have a 4/20 last night and it tasted super fresh.
I wrote a post awhile back. I had an Enjoy By that I didnt drink and it was over a month expired. In the post I asked if I should drink. I received many yes and no's. Well I drank it and it was excellent. Anyways I received an in box from a Stone rep asking where I purchased it from. She also said to contact Stone and let them know if there are any expired Enjoy Bys. She seemed very upset and apologized saying the stores are to take them off the shelves immediately.
Sorry to be that guy, but this particular topic seems to come up with virtually every variation of Enjoy By. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/whats-the-deal-with-old-enjoy-by.392685/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/stone-enjoy-by-questions.404703/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/will-you-drink-stone-enjoy-by-after.281446/ Happy reading! Sincerely, Your Grumpy Old Man PS Stone Enjoy By 4/20/2016 is going to be better in terms of freshness than virtually all the other IPA's on the shelf with the possible exception of the Luponic Distortion you picked up. You chose wisely.
Puts a little buyers remorse doubt in your head even though you're pretty sure it's still good beer. I always stick it in the fridge as quick as I can, haha.
Stone's "Report Expired Beer" form can be found at http://www.stonebrewing.com/feedback (and the highlighted icons for links makes it clear that we can post links. )
Some shop owners are cheap and try and cut losses by selling expired beer. They dont like seeing old beer on the shelves though!. Its not enjoy by but I saw this in Ontario Canada on wednesday... 7 month out of date stone IPA!
I had some last night and was just as good. Honestly will probably grab another bomber. I've seen random ipas up to a year old on the shelves...those are the ones that should be pulled.
The enjoy by date is something like 2 months from bottling I thought, You probably could go about 4 months past and still get a decent brew but After that I wouldnt touch it. That ipa I saw was 9 months since the bottling date. no thanks. Even sadder it was in a gov run liquor shop!
Thanks....I knew how to do it, but wasn't sure if I would get smacked by a mod....thought that happened once. Anyways, thanks for posting it to make life east!
I saw whole bunch of it on shelf Sat, I figured it was still good, if it was half the price I surely would have purchased. I see no reason to pull off shelf if people will buy in next week or so, but it does stick out with date so big. As others have said it is by far not a worse offender in the store. Everywhere I go I see 6+ month old IPA/DIPAs or ones with no date by dust. In my mind supply is higher then demand for a lot of beers on shelf in regards to keeping things fresh (say 3-4 months from bottling)
I dunno. I "sat on" some of this last batch until past the date and it was even better than the first few I cracked.
Nope, I absolutely appreciate you being that guy. The most recent thread topic on this subject seems to be here. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/whats-the-deal-with-old-enjoy-by.392685/ Please go there if you wish to comment further on this topic.
