Just wanted to give some recognition to this great little brewery! A group of friends and myself just went on the tour last Saturday and had a blast. It's great that the tour is free and you basically get to hang around and sample a few of their beers to your hearts content. My group was the last one there just talking to the head brewer who answered all our questions. Thanks Jeff!

Also props to the growler-filling volunteers who were very nice.

    So cheers to Flat Earth!

They just started distributing here in Roch which I was very excited about. Anyone have this season's Black Helicopter? I've heard mixed reviews.

My neighbors shared a bottle of Black Hellicopter with my girl friend recently. They liked it a lot.

I want to try the the Imperial IPA, grabbed a beer with Laymansbeerfan and if I recall right, he was enjoying it.

I was not impressed by this year's Black Helicopter. Gave it a much higher review a couple years ago. The proliferation of coffee beers since then has altered my perspective I guess. Still, for the price, it's a decent buy, but a low-ABV coffee stout fills a fairly small niche.

I like Black Helicopter but have not had the latest release. I too wonder if I will like it as I have in the past. Since I hate bombers, I rarely buy any Flat Earth beer.

Bombers containing beer under 10% ABV are a terrible value. I second not buying them.

steel toe bombers at $4.99 are hard to argue with. also, had an Epic Brewing Imperial Red today that was truly delightful.

Truth, I liked it. It wasn't my favorite DIPA, but I still enjoyed it. As far as the Black Helicopter goes, I had it last year at the brewery and brought a growler home. Loved it then, wasn't as impressed this year. That could be because of changing palate/tastes though, so definitely give it a shot. Plus, the price for a bomber is pretty reasonable. Brewery tour was fun when I went last year; my group of four had a good time and the price was right

Black Helicopter was really thin & watery this go around. Initial taste profile was watered down too. Did get some good coffee flavor on the back end but overall was not what I expected.

I do enjoy the Cygnus Porter pretty frequently.

    Yes, Cygnus is my favorite.

Angry Planet is good for the Summit EPA crowd. It's got enough hops for me.

The tours and tastings are always good. 12-6:30 M-F, just drop by and try some beers.

But you know how biased I am...

LOL some people I've met through here know I occasionally volunteer for them. I wish I had more time to.

I really enjoy the beer and people there and had a lot of fun with them last summer.

Flat Earth is under $5 some places for a bomber, is that really a bad deal? Why does the ABV effect what your willing to pay for? I figured taste would be a bigger factor.

Considering this place is less than a mile from me, I need to do this sometime. I like beer.

Black Helicopter is an oatmeal stout which has a lighter body and lower ABV. If you want a more ballsy beer then go for a foreign extra or american stout. To each his own, and as we say in the business, there's no accounting for taste.

Northwest Passage is quite the tasty IPA!
