Show me your bottle opener

Here's the one I use most of the time unless I want to keep the cap... This one bends them pretty badly.

It's made from a strip of maple (?) I got at the local woodworking place for a buck, then I added the opener from Amazon for a couple bucks and milled a hole in the back with the router and put a monster rare earth magnet in the back. It's gimmicky, and kinda cool...

On top of being beautiful imo, the sealer works really well for larger format (hell, any format) bottles that you are drinking slowly.

 

Here's a few I've made. Funny, I made these for years, before I every remembered to put one in my kitchen.

I got a few free plastic ones from the package store local to me over the past couple years and they have all broke. So I bought a nice metal one off of eBay.



This isn't my picture.

 

But that's not a bottle opener (cap lifter end missing), it's a can piercer.
Does it work on bottles? I tried a few, and it won't fit a onto a standard crown. Maybe a later design was made to fit both cans and bottles (there were some other opener designs that did that).

The same manufacture, Vaughan, made the same style opener with both ends:

 

It is an opener if you use the rounded end like you would a lighter. A lot of openers l have will destroy a cap unless you use them in a way they weren't intended!

 

I have had this a couple months and it has worked nicely for me. I quoted this post because I agree with what it has to say.

 

More experimentation with molten salt bluing yesterday... followed by a lot of beer.

 

I always have this one in my pocket. I keep a different one by the beer fridge but this one is always there in a pinch.

Every time I see this photo I lust after one of these!
