Your family forced you to take a paid leave from work so that you could learn how to homebrew? Score!
    Kidding.
Must have been a rough conversation: "Tongo, we have to talk about all this homebrew!"
That's when you respond, "Sure, I'll quit the homebrew, but then I'll have to go to the beer store twice as much."

Grats on amazon, I couldn't imagine living without it these days. I have a few books, but the best resource i've found is www.homebrewtalk.com , Great home brew community and information there.

That's pretty much how it went down, although they wish it was twice as much. :grinning:

How to Brew is a must. Not saying its the only or the best book on home brewing , but , its like not having led zeplin in your classic rock library if you don't.

What would be the best book for strictly tasting or enjoying beer? (not homebrewing)

I had been meaning to make a thread about this myself.

I have a PDF of the Lambic book by Guinard, but I'm always looking for a hard copy. My most used beer book: Radical Brewing.

FYI - Jackson's (full title) The Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer was first published in 1986 (there were at least 6 editions, into the late 90s, and then a Seventh Ed. from Running Press in 2000) but there was an earlier trade paper version from Perigee (G P Putnam), first US printing 1982.

The only US "craft" brewers* listed were Anchor, Boulder, Cartwright, De Bakker, New Albion, River City, Sierra Nevada and Newman's (Albany, NY) - the latter listed out of alpha order, last in the "East" - suggesting it was a very late addition.

    * Not counting the many pre-craft era brewers (F X Matt, Spoetzl,
Schell, Point, etc.) now recognized as such by the B.A., of course.

    Hey BAs!

As a lover of books, I've begun putting together a (very) modest beer library. I'd love to see some of your collections too!

Just starting my beer library, and I'm at: Tasting Beer, Brewing Classic Styles, and How to Brew. A solid foundation, I think. I also have a notebook with a master list of books I'd like to get in the future so I remember.

How are Brewmaster's Table and Craft Beer World? Either essential reading in your opinion?

Not much of a reader, but I do have brewmasters table, tasting beer, vintage beer, and the complete joys of homebrewing(borrowed not owned) I do have a few things on dvd though beer wars ( not great, but worth having) , brew masters, american beer (if you haven't seen it look for it) and crafting a nation.
