Hey all, a house I'm potentially buying has a second fridge in the basement and its a side-by-side model. I have very little experience with this other than the beers I currently have sitting in boxes in my basement but was hoping I could turn this into the next step up in cellaring.

My thoughts would be to get a temperature controller for the freezer side to bring that to cellaring temperature and continue to use the fridge side for the "daily drinkers". Is this a viable option or is there any better configuration that would be more efficient and/or better for the cellaring side without losing use of the freezer.

It doesn't work that way, sorry. The freezer air is blown into the fridge side, just one compressor.

It might work in reverse though... set the freezer side to it's warmest setting and see what it comes to. It might be possible that it's cool enough for regular beers, which would then leave the regular side at more appropriate cellar temperatures.

Came to say that. Good luck OP. Set the freezer as warm as it goes for your regular beer and set the fridge side to 55 degrees.
