see Cory’s latest tweet regarding all your BBT questions. i copied and quoted it below because loading pics on this site is a b*tch.

“Always Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout, no adjuncts.

Every year will however be a different blend as we brew 8 different Imperial Stout recipes that are aged in a variety of bourbon barrels for different lengths of time that make up the blend. There is no single B:B:T recipe...”

I'm not going get into the weeds of anyone defending the pristine name of Cory King anymore, but the above is patently false. Either way, we've largely already been over this ad infinitum so I'm not going to rehash anything I or anyone else has said on the subject in this thread. I'll just leave it at this. Feel free to skip to around 5:15.
And we can all recognize that many, if not most, moderate to large scale BA stouts these days are blends, and often from different barrels. Just getting ahead of any calls for new annual beer entries on BA for BBT before it actually comes out.

At this point no...still preferring to avoid Untappd style nonsense if at all possible, pending any drastic reason to do otherwise.

totally agree. i would say as long as it remains a blended bourbon barrel-aged no adjunct stout there is no reason for new entries every year. someone will inevitably add one anyways. probably the same people who add Shared beers under Side Project’s profile on this site (y’all are killing me btw)

This would be akin to going non-vintage for a $40 bottle of wine. If there are different blends every year (and potentially different barrels) why WOULDN'T you make an additional entry? They are definitely different beers.

I'm in agreement on the shelfie brews...while there might be some variation on Tommy Fresh, it's not going into barrels and it's being produced and re-produced more than once every 12/18 months. Shades of grey, perhaps - all beers are going to be "different" to a degree for every batch.

To stay with the wine theme, I would be fine if Robert Mondavi didn't have vintages for their $8 Private Select - no consumer (in their right mind) has ever, ever, EVER asked about the vintage when grabbing this bad boy. However, when you get into the Napa designation or Oakville tier ($40 or thereabouts) the vintage starts to matter to the consumer. Similarly for beer drinkers, the barrel, boil, time at rest, etc. probably matters to those that are looking to drop Derivation-level dollars.

“For the time being, bottles will be available for on-site enjoyment only.”

funny since i’ve seen what i can only assume are members posting D10 bottles for trade and my buddy said he saw some being razzled..

Then every single BCBS should have a new entry.

No, please don't Untappdify this website.

This isn't wine. Vintages with wine also serve to take into account the terroir, crop variation year to year, etc. If you got into that with beer you certainly would need to label every single batch of every single beer ever made as unique because of the absolutely insane quantity of variables that go into beer, especially relative to wine. Just no.

Also heard it was going to be on draft somewhere in Chicago.

Yes. I don't want to see reviews of 2018 gumballhead. It's gumballhead.

Yeah, members get bottles starting this week. Thrown off by "for the time being" on that (OWK for example just said "on-site only" without any qualifier)

Probably not. Surprised members still have the balls to do that. Cory let you get an extra bottle, and you just slap him in the face with that. I suspect another member will be booted.

They definitely aren't cool with that. They even reminded people that selling bottles is against the rules

And it’s hilarious that members are on here trading bottles of OWK for near 3k+ and supposedly CK is ok with that.…imho I’m not sure how that is any different than razzling a bottle. If a beer(bottle) was given to me as a gift(as many have said) and the super secret “friend” club represents. I wouldn’t trade/sell(razzle) it.

I have no skin in the game, as I am not it the super secret club and/or don’t have the $ to buy/trade for any of these beers.

In comparison, I did luck into another highly sought after membership. If the brewer asked that members didn’t sell/trade the beers made/gifted to members, I would 100% respect that decision.

It’s super hypocritical that they ask members not to sell the bottles but “approve” members trading for super profit.

i guess they might argue they have no control over how much beer the bottle will demand (the price of the bottle) but at the same time how do they know that people aren’t selling the bottle to go and buy other bottles they want. perhaps that’s an easier route than trading for certain bottles. i also have no skin in the game.

I completely here ya with the trade value. But supposedly OWK was a personal gift (not 100% sure, but was confirmed by a few people I know in the club). And according to a trader, Cory personally approved a trade post the guy posted. Just seems hypocritical, don’t sell a bottle for 3k+ I gifted you but trade it for $3k (exponentially more than you bought it for). That’s all I’m saying.

i get where you’re coming from. although, when you say gifted - did members not have to pay for their bottles of OWK?
