If derivation 10 was a big enough batch to give the members 2 bottles each, why not have a public release instead? Was really hoping with the new brewery being open for this long that we'd start seeing public releases of derivation

no inside information here, but i doubt you’re ever going to see a public derivation release again.

Summary: Members can trade, then sell bottles. Essentially no restrictions. 1 Extra step only. Why anyone sold it directly is beyond me. They just lost out on making $3-7k each year they are a member. That was dumb. No foresight to even play the long con.

To me this is just him having the mindset of someone who has been involved in craft beer for longer than most people. I'm someone who has also been at this for a long time, and I have seen how it has changed over time to become what it is now.

To most people who've been deeply involved in craft beer for a long time, the idea of simply selling a bottle for a crazy profit is just not right. Trading though, has always been commonplace in the craft beer scene as a way of trying beers you normally wouldn't be able to try. Historically, most of these trades were made $4$, which I understand has mostly gone out the window at this point.

What's to stop someone for trading for another bunch of bottles, and selling those? Nothing. But at a certain point you love your ability to control what happens to something you've produced. I don't see what's wrong with having a policy/agreement with those you initially give your product to.

This is not meant to knock where the scene is at today, or those selling bottles (which I am still against). But rather is meant to explain why someone might have a policy like this.

1-5 were to-go releases. not sure if they were public or through TWCP or how they handled them.

1 & 2 were TWCP, and also available at a Derivation preview party.
3 was a silent release at Perennial (maybe with Unblended 25?)
    4,6,8 were TWCP
    5,7,9 were on-site only

How dare you imply those highly esteemed members would ever sell bottles. They’re all trusted patrons who would never sell on secondary*

All this beer drama around stuff like La Coterie makes shelfies taste all the much better to commoners such as myself

Yeah, that could be a year round shelfie as far as I'm concerned.

I've always found these less "cool" SP bottles to be some of my favorites, La Ruche included

I've never tried Burk. Maybe I'll have to pick one up next weekend if I can make it.

Didn't realize Burk was available, been wanting to try that.

According to my ratings, La Ruche is my #1 SP beer, crazily enough.

Blanc De Blancs also been doing it for me lately. has a little higher ABV than most SP 375s and some great white wine / grape qualities.

Don’t forget it’s also the most ridiculous membership that, given the opportunity, you would join in a heartbeat. Wonder how ridiculous it would be then?
