Coconut Vibes sold out a while ago but you should be able to get BBT or Anabasis on-site. It’s not crazy busy but expect a bit of a wait.

    TL;DR
Awesome time sharing phenomenal beers. BBT b2 exceeds expectations. Some assholes trying to double and triple dip on Coconut Vibes. Staff did great job calling those assholes out and taking their bottles away. Overall, great trip.

    Longer:
What a great trip to St.Louis. My fiancee and I got to The Cellar about 40 minutes before open and we were able to get inside and get seats pretty quickly. I hadn't been following this thread for a few days so it was a pleasant surprise to find out they had Coconut Vibes to-go. The Cellar was busy but we were able to share with some friendly folks a BBT b2, Anabasis b3, Tete 2015 and Derivation 10. BBT b2... never had such complexity and flavor out of straight up, no-adjunct barrel aged stout. A gem... might have ruined beer for me actually.

There were a few assholes there though that tried to take advantage of the busy atmosphere and the swamped staff. I saw at least 3 people get called out, rightly so, by one of the staff members for buying double and triple the allowed allotment of Coconut Vibes. The assholes just basically went around different parts of the 2 bars and ordered from different staff. They were made to give their bottles back and were refunded the cost. Also, I saw another table of 7-8 people get called out for various shady actions. But, I was glad to see one of the staff members doing her best and calling all of them out! Great job on her part!

Overall an awesome time. Bogarts BBQ on Saturday evening and a visit to Narrow Gauge on the way back to Chicago the following day just added the cherry on top. Looking forward to the next visit down there.

What shady actions were this table doing? Please don’t tell me they were trying to vial beers, I really don’t understand the whole concept of this crap

Side project staff has no shame in callin people out. Hell, they'll correct you when you mispronounce a name of a beer. Straight ruthless at times, lol.

This makes me question the correct pronunciation of Anabasis. I assumed it was "ann-uh-base-sis", but now you have my wondering whether it is "ahn-uh-bah-sis"

Uh-nab-uh-sis. Emphasis is on the nab? There’s a pronunciation available if you google it. (I had it wrong before I tried b2 and looked it up)

Anne a bassis is how I heard people pronounce it. I thought 'base' too. It was a treat to get to try it. Whatever it is called :stuck_out_tongue:
I agree the BBT was better than last year. Best nonadjunct I've ever had. Almost made D10 taste like a 'regular' beer. D9 though, was as amazing as BBT. Also got to try Framboise de fermeir. What a treat. Amazing time at SP like always. Well Done Side Project!

unless it’s coconut or coffee shop vibes, i get corrected on how to pronounce a beer every time i’m there.
did they hand out tickets before opening?

Love STL and wow, ya'll can brew some whales. BBT is the best non-adjunct BA stout I've ever had...not really sure what could make this beer better. Straight fire out of the gate and blew me and the wifey away. Kudos SP!!!!!!

Haha, I definitely got corrected (politely) on how to pronounce Anabasis.

And yes, BBT is an all time GOAT for me. Totally different beer, but reminds me of what I thought of King Jjjuliusss. Don’t know how you’d improve it.

The tickets Friday were because there were more people than bottles available to go when the doors opened. Given both locations open Saturday, this wasn't the case although there were definitely way more people lined up at The Cellar at open than I personally would have expected. The call was made to not do tickets and just monitor. Yes there were some folks who tried to take advantage, but for the most part people played by the rules.

Good meeting some of you for the first time. And good seeing those that I always see. Was a helluva weekend. I am beat.

Pleasure hanging out with the STL beer crowd over the weekend. BBT and D9 were both incredible. Jealous of you midwest guys and your heavy hitters!

Oh, and Tetev15 was a nice surprise. Traded a pour of D9 for it. Probably going to have to pick if up myself back in Cali.

    Cheers to ya STL!

Justin! You and your wife were awesome to hang out with. Fun time smashing some bottles!

I plan on sending a box up at some point next month to my buddy Chris, so I'll make sure to pack some stuff in there for you as well.

I'm already looking forward to next years event. Maybe I'll get to take home a BBT next time!

I'm not entirely sure. I was headed for the bathroom and noticed one of the staff members already making a point that whatever they were doing was not allowed and that they all had to-go. It was in that corner away from the bar area so it was out of the staff view for the most part. They didn't seem to put up much of a fight and by the time I left the bathroom, they were gone.

So which batch of BBT is better? Which batch of Maman, 17 or 18?
