I didn't figure so. We'll hit it up some time. I've heard nothing but good things, and a brewery with that reputation and that small a tap room is just going to be crowded for a special event. 4 Hands was that way on some Saturdays before they opened the upstairs.

We got there around 5. People standing in every square foot, the loudness (from the sheer number of people in the small space, not necessarily loud people), and the plastic cups everywhere (for water, I assume) definitely reminded me of college parties. No knock on Side Project, they can't help that their beers have become hugely popular. We just hit it at the wrong time.

On a Saturday, I would pick the brewery over the cellar. The cellar is claustrophobic even when it's not crowded.

The brewery feels far, far less crowded, even when it is crowded. A recent Sunday at the brewery, with 2-5 other patrons the whole time, was one of the best SP experiences I've ever had, as an antisocial beer nerd.

The brewery had plenty of room on Saturday

How busy is SP right at open on Saturday? I was hoping to bring back home a ton of their stuff since I never get down there (5+ hour drive). Also, will it be frowned upon to buy so much at once? I don't want to come across as "that guy".

Thanks for the tip. So what are the differences between the cellar and brewery? I honestly didn't know the brewery served beer and didn't know where it was until the other day I drove by the signless building and saw barrels through a window.

The brewery only serves Side Project/Shared beer on draft and to-go. It is larger and has a 4 foot space of the bar reserved for walk up service. The Cellar has more than 20 taps of Side Project/Shared beer as well as other local/national/international offerings. No dogs at the Cellar, well behaved dogs are welcome at the brewery. No food served or to be brought in at either location.

for real. I thought maybe it was pushed back due to Abraxas week and then maybe again for their anniversary week. thought we would have heard something more by now though.
