As much as I support the type of things Cory does, I'll never support the lack of attempt to get product into everyone's hand that wants it but can't make small time windows.

This (the quote above) is almost a guarantee for anything that has any hype. They don't care if people go back through the line, and they don't care if people go to both locations. The limit (here 4pp) is not intrinsic to how many beers people get, only how many they get at any one particular time at the cash register at a particular location.

cellar is closed on Sunday's just fyi so only one location, but I kind of agree with you. set a limit (say it is 4pp), don't allow going through the line twice, and move the leftovers to the cellar the following week. (the only problem with this it is will literally be the same people that were there on Sunday save for a few out-of-towners scooping up the remaining leftover bottles).

on the other hand, this type of thing makes a great beer (emphasis on great) have little to no secondary value and should make it fairly easy to get in a trade.

I think Cory does a fantastic job in the releases. This release was known 6 days in advance. Some brewery releases give no notice. Cory also walks the line before release in order to set the limit to ensure that everyone there gets at least one bottle. So if you show up before release, you will get a bottle. Some brewery releases, you do not get this guarantee. In regards to going back through the line, why would Cory NOT do this? He has people willing to buy the beer, everyone who was at the release got their allotment, and he can sell out of the to go allotment without the need to hold onto it down the road.

I totally agree that he (along with the folks at perennial) have about the fairest policies as far as setting limits based on turn out. in line by a quarter til opening and guaranteed a bottle. very fair.

as for the other part, it's probably very hard for Cory to turn people away when they are willing to buy 20-35$ bottles after they've already received their allocation. I totally get that. and at the rate he's been cranking the releases out its almost like who cares. I just want to see what's next.

btw-when is black & wild making a return?!? I'm itching to try that beer!

black & berry > Black & wild (b2 anyways, I have yet to try b1 which is supposed to be the best of the 3).

I appreciate what Cory does. I've said that many times. I don't take issue with whether it is more or less fair. I take issue with the sentiment.

You can't say "I want to get this beer into as many hands of the people that want it as possible," AND not care how many times people go through the line, limiting the number of people that get to buy it. Just because you make sure everyone gets an allotment doesn't mean you're Mr. Generous.

It's just like music singers who set aside some set of seats that can't be resold because they want "all their fans" to get a ticket, and reselling harms that. If that were true, you'd make the number of non-resaleable tickets 90%, not 10%.

    These two are at odds.

As someone who's tried and still has bottles of all 3 you are spot on, though it's hard to say what time has done to them. It should be said though that Black and Berry needs to be opened with care, preferably over a sink.

My thoughts are Cory just doesn't have the storage space to keep extras on hand for weeks and weeks. At the rate he's churning out beer, that tiny space has to fill up fast!

Im a local, and would love it if they didnt sell out hours after releases so l could stop on my way home from work and get a bottle occasionally. While I wish Side Project was much easier to get, I also think its unreasonable to expect a company to sell things slower than they want. We all have jobs, if our employers said they would pay us slower but we would get all of our money we would complain. Cory should sell things at the pace he wants to.....even though I wish he didnt so I could get SP easier.

If people dont like the lines and small windows, then please stop creating them.

Black & wild b1 is still the best SP beer I’ve ever had and the last time I had it was 2 years ago?? It was probably nearing the end of its prime at that point. I can’t imagine it getting better with time and I think it’s probably at it’s falling off point now but who knows?

Also I had it with b2 fresh side by side and it blew it away imo. Cheers!

I agree with this and what most others have said. I just don't get that Cory doesn't want his beers to end up on secondary, and yet that would happen a lot less I think if they required a scanning of driver's licence, and one allotment=1 allotment (they do this with big bottles, right? Seems easy enough to do for other hyped releases, like AdF, BdF, etc.). Period unless it has lasted more than 2 weeks. Seems like that's a pretty easy way to help discourage secondary. Part of what makes secondary for SP so bad is all the shitlording. I can only imagine the hoarding the goes on by some people.

I'm pointed this out before, but I don't have the ability to make it down (hell, I've never been). I don't benefit directly from any of the suggestions that I've made. So, this isn't about "fairness" or anything like that.

Wow that’s great to hear. That beer was a beast and I wonder how many are left out there. You should track one down...I know you have the ammo  lol

one thing I will say that Cory is very fair on is on-site consumption. Fuzzy, AdF, BBT, BACSV all can / could be had on-site along with a long list of others in the past.

I definitely prefer the higher initial limit (as long as everyone in line when the release can get it) instead of the "who has an extra hour+ to loop through the line repeatedly" approach.

The higher initial limit certainly does help get rid of the long line faster too. I'm sure all of the businesses around SP are thankful for that...
