That’s allegedly part of the reason why AdF was as 4pp. Businesses were supposedly complaining about the fuzzy lines.

Also in regard to a post above ID checks on every release are a bad idea, they always make the line take so much longer.

The high allotment definitely sucks. I tried to get AdF, but figured I only wanted it if I didn't have to squander an hour or more in line. Arriving at 1pm, it ran out before I got to the front. That plan worked well for fuzzy, minimizing the time wasted.

A lower allotment and I probably would've gotten some. It's just hard to justify standing in line for an hour or more for so many of their releases. Wish they'd go back to releasing some stuff at the Cellar early.

But I definitely understand the man-hours of SP employees are an important consideration.

Arguably not. No need to stand in line if you know you can go get it at 5pm. Seems more likely without looping inline(s) allowed.

Besides - it's all about the why? If you want to get rid of it as soon as possible, set the limit as high as possible such that everyone in line at open gets it. If your goal is to reduce secondary - reduce the # of allotments.

Seems this continues to revolve around re-liners. How many people looped? If you don't know the number, the whole argument is based on presumption, and a likely overly-exaggerated one.

I really don't get this complaint. 4pp is really low for anything else. The fact that people were allowed to walk out with 4 bottles of a great beer is wonderful.

The lucky (or greedy ) few that re-lined took advantage of a loophole. Those are the sorts of people that will likely find another loophole if the process were different.

Everybody who was in line at 12 did get an allotment. It’s a highly anticipated beer they gave almost a week of notice on. It released at 12. If you were there at 12 you got it.

Yeah, we all wish the supply was unlimited and you could stroll in anytime and get it, but SP still isn’t large enough to just have bottles upon bottles sitting there. In the mean time they’ve been giving a ton of notice on most releases so the people who want it can get it.

Also there should be something to go early at the cellar soon.

That's part of the problem for me personally, the more notice, the more people who are driving six hours and/or devoting an entire day to getting a few bottles. It ends up being the same few dozen customers who can regularly devote a big chunk of a Sunday to get beer.

Fuzzy B2, and lots of other sought-after beers were sitting around a while. They've gone away from that model that worked well lately, and it makes things harder for those of us who can't or don't want to spend a specific hour of a specific day waiting in line.

They can do things how they like. But the sell it all at once method seems to just concentrate it in fewer hands.

As someone pointed out before. If the main worry is a big cluster of people effecting surrounding businesses then IMO the best solution is not trying to sell out instantly by upping the limits. They should keep the limits at 1-2 bottles and eliminate the looping. That would allow the bottles to last 2-14+ days and people wouldn't feel the need to stand in line the morning of release day... eliminating the mass of people that disturb other businesses.

I don't see how space can be the issue when they have the new brewery.

Lots of breweries do this, and their reason is usually to get the beer into more people's hands. When that's done, it's frequently lauded on these forums. Doesn't mean SP has to do it; plenty of breweries do it the other way too. That method gets your inventory sold the fastest for sure, but it doesn't get beer into lots of people's hands. And it enables "shitlording" as @Beer_Economicus noted.

Also noted - they keep a lot around for onsite, so that to me is a nice way to balance out selling out in one day that shouldn't be understated.

There’s also the fact that 90% of the releases in the past year and half have been available for days, if not weeks, if not months.

SP is also barely doing last minute/surprise releases anymore. The only ones I can think of in the past year are Anabasis, Jammy, KdF, and the magnums. That’s 4 releases out of the past 78-ish weeks.

Reflections is the only other short notice release that I can think of. It seems like the things that might have been surprise releases in the past have migrated to purely on site (Quetsche, Cassis).

I used to go to SP releases more for the beer. I tend to go now more for the shares. The beer becomes a bonus. Got to try VSB last time. Right after having IWAAD. Terrible times I tell you.

Would be nice if Cory did a double release. Pitter Patter and PN8. One can dream.
