Hey guys, I'd love to try all of the Side Project beers but am not sure of the bottle counts / rarity of the offerings. Just to make sure I don't throw any ridiculous sounding trades out there, was hoping you guys could chime in on which are vs. aren't as hard to come by/trade for?

    Thanks in advance and Cheers,
    MK

The bottle counts for Saison du Fermier and Origins and the like were all under 300 (I think, correct me if I'm wrong).

They are really sought after and tough to find. You're gonna need some real ammo to pull them. If you had some nuwhaelz like the TG beers, Voodoo barrel room beers, or HF single bottle limit beers, you should be able to.

There have been two Side Project releases. The first was announced a month in advance and you had to be in line by 6a for a 12p release if you wanted to get anything. There were 3 bottles released at 1/pp: The Origin at 186 bottles, Brett Project #1 at ~80 bottles, and Saison du Fermier at ~500 bottles. Both The Origin and Brett Project #1 will not be made again, however Corey recently posted on Twitter a new batch of Saison du Fermier is being brewed so that may be out by the end of this year. The second release was "silent" and included 4 bottles (educated guess is that they were all in the 500 to <1000 bottle count range): Saison du Ble (12/pp), Brett Venture #1 with Lacto (6/pp), Brett Venture #2 with Lacto (6/pp), and Brett Venture #2 (6/pp).

At this point don't expect to be able to land The Origin or Brett Project #1 without whalez and some major luck. Saison du Fermier can be had but I'd personally wait until the next release. All the beers from the second release are definitely obtainable. I personally have traded (for and away) all of them (pls don't BM, I'm drinking what I have left). Honestly the ones I've sent out haven't been for equally rare beers so I just took a premium on the $4$ (e.g. a Brett Venture with lacto for a Backyard Rye, Velvet Merkin, and '13 BCBCS).

If you look through the forums there have been some good discussion about side project trade value... Hope this helps and good luck fishing (or whaling)...

Thank you that definitely helps! You mention $ values but do you know what they were cost-wise? I was curious especially if I took the premium $4$ route.

I didn't buy The Origin but I believe it was $30, everything else has been $15-20

oh and saison du femier was $17 and I believe brett #1 was $15. fwiw origin trades a smidge over what rare was trading about 1-2 months ago and i believe the set went for blaeber a couple times and a bvdl

Yea I got into a "heated debate" in the trading forums about the sets worth. The poster traded B1 Damon, B2 Damon, DBD, and Port Damon for a set without Brett #1 (50 bottles, wow!). My personal opinion was that I wouldn't do it (a lot of people $hit on me for it), but it got done.

At the end of the day as long as both parties were satisfied, that's what matters. I just made a BVDL '13 trade a few weeks ago and know some people wouldn't be on board with it but eh, I honestly don't care, I'm happy with it.

There will be more SP beers in the future. Don't blow your whole wad on one now. I will say all I've had were great

Reviving this thread to ask about Black & Wild. I tried to find info on bottle count but couldn't (perhaps I wasn't diligent enough). Fermier and Black & Wild both interest me. I know Fermier had a higher bottle count than most SP releases but B&W seems to be small judging by the ratings.

I've got the trendy (and delicious) PNW beers, but before putting up an offer I wanted to know if B&W was an impossibility.

    Thanks!

If you can find somebody willing to trade a BnW be prepared to bring out the big guns

Cool. At 180 bottles it looks similar to some of the De Garde or the Fantasia Reserve, so I'm hoping a 1-1 could be possible ... or maybe 2-1 on the less rare (400 bottle count) De Gardes.

    Thanks.

FWIW, I don't want to open this can of worms again, but the Origins that I opened with raveskdr and others at a tasting in Feb was definitely awful. I believe Cory (and others in this community) have definitively claimed that it is not infected, but the bottle we opened had something terribly wrong with it. Drainpour. Trade for it at your own risk, IMO.
