Interesting that SP sent an email about a new beer being released and no one seems to care

    The beer:

"Tides is a blend of our hoppy Farmhouse Pale - Single Farm, and our Brett Pale - Home. The base was racked from oak foedres to oak barrels and allowed to referment on Passion Fruits, Oranges and Guavas before being blended and then dry-hopped with Freestyle Nelson Sauvin from our friends in New Zealand. "

It actually sounds really good. Unfortunately I just don't think there is a market for $40 beers whose primary goal is to be fruity and refreshing. I know they aren't the same thing at all but if I want refreshing I'll get lagers and if I want juicy I'll get a DDH IPA and either way I'll get like 5x more beer per dollar.

This was exactly the take for Soleil recently, and it’s hard to argue your point. And I really liked Soleil! Don’t know how great this one will be, but that $40 just hurts.

Sounds great but will wait until it's likely in a package.

Yeah, in a package or at the very least when I can get it for 15% off on Sundays.

They got more aggressive with stout pricing and it didn't seem to matter much. Not the same case with everything else.

If this beer was $25, I’d probably try it. Description sounded awesome. But when I got to the price tag, I just deleted the email lol.

one would think given that summer of 2023 was the last release. it's never too early to start the hype though...

i think this beer sounds great! however, at its price point it better deliver! also, hard to justify buying more than one (for me anyways - for a lot of you it sounds like it is hard to justify even buying one, which i can't say i blame you).

also, as far as the warmer summer months are concerned, i would take dry-hopped white labels and single farms at $20-25 over this. feels like it has been forever since we got a single farm release.

I could care less about them putting it up on tavour, but it seems odd to not have it on their web shop too. It’s a different segment of the beer drinking population. Just like the group that would check what they have on their web store, but not necessarily so familiar that they check what is available to go. I’d have to think that they would sell more if they did that, just like through selling via tavour. Seems like the harm of letting it sit online compared to what they would sell extra would be minimal.

I wonder if tavour actually pays them retail. Seems like tavour would want to to slice that by $5 a bottle or something.

Yeah, it's been available to-go for $50 at the brewery for weeks and weeks. Tavour is a nice outlet for them to move distressed inventory, even if it's 70-80¢ on the dollar.

if you would have told me 5 years ago that Anabasis would be “distressed inventory” I don’t think I would’ve believed you

nice. i cracked a 22 vintage last week and thought it was delicious.

anyone checked in on vintage 19 recently? also, that’s still the best OF of all time right?

B1 >>> B3 IMO, but B3/‘19 is really stellar. B2 fresh was also a beast. I need to checkin on ‘22 soon.

How does OFGC compare to the other batches? I haven’t opened mine yet but I’ve loved every Oude Fermier I’ve tried
