Definitely the best beer I’ve had to date

 

Not trying to split hairs here, but when people say "definitely," it means something rather specific to me. To me, "definitely" here implies "far and away," as in that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt - there's no two ways about it, you are beyond sure. To me, that's not the difference between rating a beer a 4.8 and a 4.9, but every other beer being a 4.5-4.6 and this one being a 4.9.

Is that what you experienced? (Glad for you if that's true, just trying to better understand.)

 

I wouldn't say it's the best beer I've ever had but from a style standpoint, it's definitely the best barrel aged vanilla stout I've had. If there's a better one out there I'd love to try it.

 

Obviously just my opinion but this was in a share that had alot of heavy hitters including KBBS b1-3, both batches of SR-71, Brandy BVDL, and so on and for what I look for in a BA stout this was far beyond my expectations. I agree to @Vitacca 's point that style plays into this comment but if KBBS is ranked #1 on BA's Top 250 O.W.K would easily bump it to number 2 and I love me some KBBS. Just my $ .02

 

Much appreciated. No hate here, just appreciate the extra comments - especially by someone that is clearly not reselling a beer, gives no fucks about the associated ratings, etc. (Few ratings exist as well, of course.)

 

OWK is the only relatively fresh beer in that lot, besides maybe SR-71 b2.

I know some beers age surprisingly gracefully and improve with time, but in my experience, outside of some barleywines and sours, most do not.

Also, having a huge amount of vanilla bean in what sounded to me like a smaller batch of beer is going to give it a leg up in flavor, but so too is its relative freshness.

Finally, I know we all try to be subjective, but the lengths to which you went to obtain it do contribute to your overall experience, good or bad.

It's certainly impressive you got to try all those beers in one sitting, so kudos to that--can you detect the envy?

 

I've had KBBS b3 3 times to date...once fresh after release once last summer and just last Saturday...I absolutely love that beer with a passion and thought nothing could top it honestly but O.W.K ripped the championship title belt away IMHO

beers i’ve had that are better than KBBS: BAA & D5.

 

I drank 2012 BVDL (Handjee) and b1 BA Abraxas around the same time as KBBS b1. As great as KBBS was, I preferred the other two.

Not my trades but two different bottles each went for 2 bottles of Pappy 20 in separate trades.

The two members were discussing it at Fermier Day at SP today, and one member even verified the trade with Cory.

And, to the person above wondering about two OWK, another member there today has two bottles (him and his wife). He is planning to drink one, as he missed it onsite and said he may trade the other eventually.

 

Unless this wasn't his or he has a 2nd bottle?
