Based on how expensive "real maple" syrup is it was prob the second most expensive ingredient/adjunct he's ever bought (behind vanilla beans). That's just a guess of course.

Maybe I was drunk but I recall seeing a recent (BA?) Maple Wheatwine from SP/Shared on Instagram story. maybe that’s the “secret” Release?

yeah, i feel like that’s been in the works for a long time. so long in fact that it was a Jackie O’s collab and has turned into a Private Press collab.

man would that that would be the worst surprise bottle ever! Maple wheat wine sounds like something you use for enemas on geriatrics patients

Wheatwine isn’t that much different than barleywine. Sulla Terra was delicious, and if anything, I could have gone for a touch more maple.

DHoG is excellent. BCBS Wheatwine was good last year. i’m sure they’re are other examples.

I think he meant that if maple was added to the wheatwine it would be too sweet. Agree that there are a lot of good examples of wheatwine.

Looking forward to coming out of hibernation and going back to SP. I tried to avoid the crowds during Anniversary week at the cellar. Anytime they announce anything to do with stouts or draft barleywines people lose their mind and line up outside. The selection on regular, non-anniversary days is usually pretty awesome as well. But, rarely does anyone lose their mind when it's an older vintage of pulling nails or a fruited fermier. Same thing with fermier week in Spring. No one comes out unless they are pouring stouts, which is fine by me. Now I can get a seat at the bar and drink in peace.

the stout releases and stout events / tappings definitely bring out the first timers and not-so-regulars. which is nuts, because their saisons and wilds are so good. PN2 might have been my favorite on Saturday at the Cellar anniversary party.

i think part of the reason for that is that SP’s saisons and wilds are obtainable in trades where as their stouts are much harder (or virtually impossible depending on which ones we’re talking about) to get. also, stouts just tend to be a more popular style in general i think.

This^ I was mostly just making an over exaggerated joke but yeah was more or less scared of the overly syrupy sweetness but I could be wrong! Curious nonetheless

Agreed, really glad that it's getting another batch and to go this time. Probably prefer this one in a 750ml format too.

Wonder how impossible this is going to be to get tickets too...

The website for the venue says 600 person max capacity. With staff and volunteers plus any brewers that come, probably 500 tickets for sale to the public. Blog says some in person and some online.

I’m going to be so heartbroken if I don’t get a ticket to this, lol.

If they’re going to capacity that’s probably roughly double the Zwanze tickets.

So like 50 seconds instead of 40 for online.
