Literally had this exact same conversation with friends on a group text last night. I will say I was the one insisting the pics were just artwork for the renovated cellar though... Looking at you, @davidtarnow

Excited about the expanded hours and might stop by the cellar tonight to check out the renovation. With memberships there, Perennial, and 2nd shift I don't know if I need to buy from another brewery again...

I’m in the same boat. Between membership here, Perennial, 2nd shift and 3sons, I’m not sure I’ll be buying anything else. Hell I may even have to give up the Perennial membership.

    Great problem to have!

I may have missed some things on pages back, but did memberships suddenly open up at SP?

Yes, additional members were added for the 2020 edition of La Coterie that begins in March.

I’m not sure it’s going to be able to be “fight club” any longer, lol.

The total cost of the membership definitely adds up - for 2019 if you bought everything it wound up being 45 bottles / ~$1,400. And that was with most of the releases at 1pp

Also there's a La Coterie page on the header of the website now, so hopefully 2020 is the year the "fight club" thing finally dies http://www.sideprojectbrewing.com/lacoterie

Thanks for the info. Follow up question (which was really what I was asking):

How, when, where, what happened? Was this still invite only? Was it suddenly an on-site, "Hey if you are here and want to sign up, then awesome" thing, or was it a raffle, or?

Just trying to better understand since I didn't see any information posted or any comments other than several people indicating that they are now members.

Invitations were emailed out. It wasn’t a first come, first serve type of deal.
New members were added a week or so ago and membership runs from March of 2020 thru February 2021.

I feel like I am pulling teethe, and I'm not trying to.

I signed up on the website also. BUT, how were people first able to sign up? Did someone have insider information? Was it just posted, and then whomever saw it, saw it? Was it announced at Anniversary week? Something else?

I really do appreciate all the information. Not trying to be difficult, just trying to get full information.

It's invite only - they reached out to people via e-mail to sign up. Everyone needs to get re-invited each year, and it was the same method they've used the last two years. Primarily regular customers that drink on-site, attend events, etc. Additionally they also did a lottery based on people that reached out (see below).

When people have asked about the membership in person they've provided an e-mail address that you could reach out to for future consideration (no clue if they've done the same when people ask online as well). I assume the form on the website has a similar effect, but that's new as of the last week or so.

    Thanks!

My understanding from it being invite only was that you couldn't be put on a list (even if that's just a list they keep). I thought it was, "Hey, want to join" during a face-to-face at some point.

    Appreciate the clarity.

I'm pretty sure you have to be a "social media influencer" to be invited in 2020. Ya know, the people who post the same pics over and over and maybe visit the brewery one time every other year. That's how it seems to me on Instagram...

Probably just seems that way as they have put out there publicly they got in and it’s been seen by many.

Several of my friends got in and none of them have a large social media following (I don’t either).

Are your friends fairly local and visit several times a year? Do they make a point to attend releases and just go in general because they genuinely love their beers? That would make sense to me then.
