I did. This is the first instant-sell out that I managed to get through on. I was surprised, and it was one of the reasons I asked above when it actually sold out, because I thought based on my experience and some of the comments above that it actually lasted a couple minutes.

My wife asked me to move over the car seat about 3 minutes before the event went live. I was like, JUST GIVE ME A FEW MINUTES. Puuuhhhhleeaze.

 

It definitely lasted at least two minutes. I forgot I had a SP log-in, and thankfully guessed the right password after failing to create an account. I was still able to get thru on my preferred weekend though.

This is the first successful SP release for me.

 

Got mine! I’m excited to FINALLY try BBT. I’ve been chasing it for years.

 

I was refreshing the main page - never showed up - didn't know I had to click into the "full" menu - never even had a shot - so disappointed.

 

Somewhat surprised they didn't do a BBT variant release to the leadup, like they did for 2020. By the grace of the beer gods I was able to snag the 2018 BBT then.

 

Thanks. I do remember reading about the new Caps, but I somehow missed that they said they were foregoing the wax and instead opting for foil. I wonder why they can't wax with the new caps, or if this is just a convenient way to get away from waxing. Waxing is obviously a PITA, if anyone has ever had to do it before...So, I would certainly respect that reason as well.

 

I got a package (and didn’t have to trade a GTS for it!!) - pretty pumped!

 

i think Mr. @Heisenbrew was being facetious on the foil comment…

also, LC emails showed Tete as being waxed so not sure what is happening on that front.

 

Could probably pull 2 packages and a plus with a GTS.

 

I’m not. They have foil on them. I picked them up yesterday.

Think the foil is pretty ugly honestly, doesn’t make much sense.

 

besides thinking Dr. @Heisenbrew was kidding around, the next thing i though of was Avery Brewing. i’m sure other breweries have gone the foil route as well.

 

For anyone that hasn’t checked, the foil looks like the foil on the old Goose Island 750 Sour Sisters. Or similar to a wine bottle.

It is definitely not as pretty/special as wax, but as they grow I imagine they would want to stop waxing as much as possible. Taping and waxing really is a gigantic time suck.

 

Ahaha never fails for my wife too, her timing is so bad most of my releases these days are from the bathroom,hah!

Not this time tho I start at 8 on zoom lol. Desktop is the way to go! That address thing happens to me every time I’m on the my phone

 

I understand that, guess it would just be nice to see that reflected in the price then. Seems the prices keep going up and little things like this get cut. No big deal at the end of the day

 

Foil looks like the ones the bruery uses. They made the jump a few years ago from wax to foil. Depending on the color, some of them look fancy

So are the new caps similar to the ones hill farmstead uses? With the little rubber part under the cap?

The wax is pretty and all, but what's inside is more important. It seems they made this transition to allow the beer to withstand oxidation longer among other things. I love love love this. As someone who likes to play with age on beer this is very exciting. The only thing I would like more on the wild ales is a cork & cage.

 

Not trying to nit pick, but what you are suggesting is that they can’t use the new caps with wax. If that isn’t true, then…Only the caps matter. They could still wax, and if anything, the wax should help. (Unless the wax is loosening the seal.)
