Cdc b8 seemed like it was either CdC b7 (or a beer with similar processes to b7) then aged on pears. both were solid entries in the CdC lineup. 7 was easy to drink but maybe a tad boring and so i feel like it needed the fruit addition. pear just happened to work with that one.

i’m not sure it is supposed to be though, is it? or does every fruited entry now just get compared to PN8?

on a similar note, i thought PN9, which was also heavily fruited, was a great entry in the PN series. enjoyed that one just about as much as 8 but perhaps for slightly different reasons.

I was referring to PN8 and the Méthode Traditionnelle portion of that beer as a great differentiator from PN14 on the process side.

I had CdC7 and enjoyed it.

PN8 was incredible (thanks @Affinity )! Was uneasy about PN14, but now am at least a bit intrigued. As for CDC8, I loved it. I think the subtlety of the pear allowed the rest of the saison to truly shine

No it’s not, I think pn12 was tho, and while I liked it I like pn14 more. There was a really nice funk and low acidity I was hoping it was something like 8

interestonf note about #9, I liked it, had a ton of flavor but the acidity got a bit to high for me on that one

I was a huge fan of cdc 8 as well! Wish I grabbed a second bottle even.

man I can’t believe pn is up to 14 and cdc is at 9. What exactly sets these series apart exactly?

They’re random shit that SP is trying out and doesn’t fit into an existing beer.

the CdC lineup is a nice way to use the “higher end” barrels that are still good but just didn’t fit into Tete or Oude Fermier blends. Cory emphasized that on the first 2 blends. hence the slightly higher price tags on those and also why quite a few of them have featured Oude beers (1,3,5,6 & 9).

Pulling Nails seems to have always been more about experimentation and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts concept - typically pulling from more and varied threads.

to me, the CdC lineup seems a bit more focused. both have their ups and downs, depending on what you like. with that in mind, i feel like there’s a blend in each lineup for everyone who enjoys farmhouse / wilds.

those 3 releases came out pretty quickly and there’s been quite a lull there. however, i didn’t expect those to be cranked out quite like PN & CdC would be. even CdC is a bit surprising it’s on 9 already. that series came well after PN and is damn near caught up!

No. Pulling Nails is a blend of different beers. CdC is a single beer that may have fruit/hops/etc added to it.
