from my understanding, it's a separate "clean" bottling line. if they used the same one that would increase the potential for contamination. Thats why they would only bottle stouts in 750, it was a seperate system that could only do 750s, but they got a new one that can do both. Theyve been doing it for years with sours.

One possibility for more Saisons being released recently than higher ABV beers in 750mL may be that the Saisons typically take longer to bottle condition and were already filled before the brewery started feeling the effects of the bottle shortage which then led to a delay of bottling more high ABV beers. Just a thought. I know that the Single Farm Motueka was in bottles since before December week b/c Cory let us try a bit of it then. And that was just released this month

But the 750mL bottles for stout and for saison are the same, yes?

Was thinking the same thing, but wasn't sure how much longer saison takes to condition than a stout that's been resting in a barrel. That habitat isn't ideal for yeast, but maybe they pitch a bit in at bottling? Each batch is unique, and it's ready when it's ready as they say, but I'd bet that your explanation is a contributing factor. Cheers!

    That's ridiculous.

We all know b1 is only better if there is an equal or less number of b2 bottles released....

I highly doubt it for the contamination reason i mentioned earlier, I’d imagine they bottle them at separate locations even, but that’s just my guess. Contamination stuff sucks, so anything you can do to prevent it I imagine they do. Anyone know for sure?

my speculation is this. Saisons and sours are their bread and butter on sustaining their day to day operations so the bought a really nice system to bottle 750s and 375s of them. They do stouts ever so often so they got a cheaper clean system that only does 750s. Then they remodeled the brewery and invested in the new clean one for stouts that does different bottle sizes.

atleast that’s how I see it following it on social media but I’m just a beer drinker

I’m dumb and misread your question. Yea lol they are but if I had to pick between sustaining the brewery and not, I think saisons would take priority if there was a bottle shortage

i would think on average saisons / wilds condition longer in the bottle before release than the stouts and BWs. most of the stouts and BWs seem to condition about 2-3 months (for example BBT usually gets teased for blending and bottling in September for a late November release). most of the white label saisons seem like they sit for 3 months minimum and then the more limited saisons (OF, tete, a few CdCs) can be anywhere from 8 months to a year.

And, consider other producers. The new batch of art conditioned in bottles for…7 years! Some of their others, like CD normally condition pretty long, too. Think the recent release was like 3 years?

good point. i was speaking in strictly SP terms as HF is straight up outta control in their bottle conditioning lol. their labels might as well read “drink now as we’ve waited until this puppy is starting to fall apart to release it to you”

Can confirm. We got the second to last bottle at tasting room I guess. Also, single farm motueka is amazing. Hopefully DB Gen comes with 3 of it.

Hmmm, is that the inside scoop that there will be a public release for DB Gen? Would definitely be out of ordinary as far as rollout would go

Count me in the camp of being the eternal pessimistic and not being sure how there will be enough bottles for a public release.

    Ok, realist. Really.

Well they’ve done that before, (with forever darkness) and with 375 they technically have twice as much as they would of had if they did 750s
