I had Stagg as the favorite. Sitting outside on a near 70 degree February day made everything better tho.

 

The other two are far better than port and it’s not close IMO

 

port is tough. i thought og DBD was good but not as good as most other Derivations. VSOP cognac is my favorite of the DBDs i’ve tried.

 

interesting comparison with Stagg to BBT as this seems like a much younger beer than BBT and i would think it would lack the complexities of BBT as it’s a single recipe instead of a blend. was it pretty hot?

 

Stagg was hot at first sip, but really smooth as it opened up. I let mine sit for over 3-hours as I sipped it and the bourbon subsided/melded over time. Not as much tobacco and baker's chocolate as older vintage BBT, but instead thick milk chocolate with added flavors from the stagg (cinnamon, nougat).

 

I'm so jealous of all of you right now...

 

Speaking of which, batch 3 of this was released today.

Damn, I was hoping for a BA Coco-esque release!

 

they can’t handle anymore lawsuits from broken ankles. that’s why they had to move to $40 375s and $75 Derivations and collab stouts.

Was this the BA Coco vibes release? I remember there being a winter storm that day. It was pretty nasty.

yeah, parking lot was in horrible shape and dude slipped and fell and messed up his leg or ankle pretty badly. i think AMTs may have come if i remember correctly. this was before the fence. he was crossing from the other lot until the main lot.

 

Man I took a spill this Saturday--I knew I was running on ice (have been for a while now around our lake) but I was finding footfalls, until I didn't...

I was horizontal instantaneously and it was pretty incredible. Can't believe I only got away with a few skin pinches and stubbed fingers weirdly enough. The swiftness with which i was laid out actually helped.

That said, maybe this works in my favor. I was skipping this whole week in favor of an old school barleywine release out this way (East End's Gratitude Day), but maybe my remote work will be extra remote next week...hmmm.
